Carlos Santana is one of music’s most loved and respected figures. But as we all know, all bets are off once someone says something unflattering about Beyonce.
Santana, the man who gave us “Black Magic Woman” and “Oye Como Va” is on the verge of cancellation after offering his thoughts on why Adele won the 2017 Grammy Award for Album of the Year over Beyonce.
In an interview with the New Zealand Herald, Santana said:
“With all respect to our sister Beyonce, Beyonce is very beautiful to look at and it’s more like modelling kind of music – music to model a dress – she’s not a singer, singer, with all respect to her…Adele can sing, sing. She doesn’t bring all the dancers and props, she can just stand there and she just stood there and sang the song and that’s it, and this is why she wins.”
Back in the day, these quote may not have made it back to states, let alone the BeyHive. But in 2017, words travel at the speed of light. As soon as Santana’s quote hit the web, Bey’s fans went on the attack. That said, there is also a great number of Beyonce fans who don’t know who Carlos Santana is, or care to. History be damned.
