Chance The Rapper has been crowned a king among the youth and he’s taking the title seriously.

The Chicago rapper met with the Governor of Illinois, Bruce Rauner, to discuss the huge budget cuts that have been affecting Chicago’s public school system. There is currently a $215 million hole in the school’s budget. Rauner vetoed a bill that would have eased some of that burden. He says it’s because it did not contain pension reforms that he demanded be included in the bill.

Chance had a 30-minute meeting with the Governor, but he left feeling dissapointed.

“I’m a little bit flustered,” he told reporters after the talk. “The kids are on the table right now. We spoke for a second, and it sounded like we were going somewhere, but it sounds like it’s hinged on passing another bill. I’m not a politician.”

He also said that the Governor queried, “where the $215 million was going to come from.” Chance then challenged the media to a better job reporting on the issues at hand.

As for Governor Rauner, he called the talk a “good exchange” and they both agreed to talk more. He also added he was feeling optimistic. Chance says that he has his personal number so they will see what happens.
