Now that Prodigy has passed away (R.I.P.), it’s on Havoc’s shoulders to carry the legacy that Mobb Deep created. Truth be told he’s been going an admirable job.

DJ Vlad got the Queensbridge native to sit down and reflect on growing up in New York’s most infamous housing projects and shared some little trinkets that some of the most loyal Mobb Deep fans might’ve been unaware of.

Reminiscing on his earlier years, Havoc recalls how a 14-year-old Prodigy deep-sixed a solo deal with Jive Records to form a group with Havoc, why they changed their names from Poetical Prophets to Mobb Deep (mainly due to the fact that Puff wanted to sign them to Uptown MCA but wasn’t feeling their name), and feeling validated when Tupac called them out.

Prodigy, on the other hand, was “tight” that Pac mocked his sickle cell anemia.

Check out the interview to peep some more of Havoc’s side of things on the East Coast/West Coast beef, Prodigy’s beef with Jay-Z, and how losing Prodigy has affected him.
