Katie Got Bandz, one of the promising voices in Chicago’s Drill music scene, has been arrested for alleged identity theft. The rapper was knocked for the charge this past Monday (Aug. 7) and is awaiting trial later this month.

According to HHDX, the 24-year-old born Kiara Johnson was bagged on the alleged charge and faces a court date of August 21. Her bail was set at $50,000, although it isn’t determined if she’s free from jail while awaiting her sentencing.

After a buzzing 2013, Katie Got Bandz has toiled in relative obscurity as the Drill scene has seemingly moved on without her. The rapper’s last release was 2015’s Drillary Clinton 3.

She took to Instagram and briefly addressed the arrest and says she has new music on the way, including a potential Free Katie mixtape. In the video, Katie says that the charge she’s facing isn’t accurate to the actual facts and says she was locked up for “not running my motherf*ckin’ mouth.”
