The heinous incidents in Charlottesville that left three people dead this past weekend are spurring change across the nation. Statues honoring Confederate soldiers are coming down, either illegally, or like in Baltimore, peacefully.
CNN reports that four Confederate monuments were removed early this morning (Aug. 16). On Monday, the City Council voted unanimously to remove the statues.
The majority of these homages to the Confederacy went up during the Jim Crow Era, and were blatantly used to intimidate Black people.
Recently in Durham, a Confederate statue was toppled during a protest.
Bring them all down, no matter what Cheeto Trump and his simple take on history thinks.
