The fallout from last Saturday’s (August 12) white nationalist rally continues as Spotify has become the latest high profile organization to renounce white supremacy and announced they’re pulling all racist content from their library.
In a statement to Billboard, a spokesman for Spotify said, “Illegal content or material that favors hatred or incites violence against race, religion, sexuality or the like is not tolerated by us. Spotify takes immediate action to remove any such material as soon as it has been brought to our attention. We are glad to have been alerted to this content – and have already removed many of the bands identified today, whilst urgently reviewing the remainder.”
Spotify has become the latest organization to deny white supremacists and Nazis a platform to promote their hate joining Google, Godaddy, Facebook, Reddit, and GoFundMe.
Spotify has since followed through with their promise and removed such hateful content while producing a culturally diverse “Patriotic Playlist” that listeners should consider “a soundtrack to an America worth fighting for.”
Don’t expect this guy to be a fan of Spotify’s latest playlist though.
