Method Man sat down for a recent interview on a TruTV television program and covered a bevy of topics. The Wu-Tang Clan swordsman shouted out the late Prodigy of Mobb Deep, naming him a top five New York rapper in the process.

The Chris Gethard Show welcomed Method Man to their set, and the conversation turned to the loss of rappers over the years. Gethard, who clearly knows his Hip-Hop, gave Method his flowers while he could still smell them which then led to the talk about Prodigy.

“I’m pretty sure anyone who follows Hip-Hop in the last two years, lost a lot of cats,” Method said. “Most recent in my head is Prodigy from Mobb Deep. You just never know, when your number’s called.”

Method added that a person should live their lives well as they can as that legacy will outlive them. Gethard then mentioned Mobb Deep’s classic song “Shook Ones,” remarking it will remain classic forever which prompted Method Man’s honoring the late artist born Albert Johnson.

“In his heyday, he was top five in New York for sure,” Method replied.

We certainly agree with that statement.
