Alleged woman-beating weirdo XXXTentacion is at the center of an ugly domestic abuse case in where the victim’s harrowing ordeal was revealed in a 150-page court document earlier in the month. The Florida rapper’s upcoming trial has been delayed, reportedly due to his defense team unable to corral a number of witnesses in the matter.

Pitchfork reports:

A spokesperson for the Miami-Dade state attorney’s office suggested XXXTentacion’s lawyer was to blame for the delay. “The prosecutor is ready to go to trial at any point,” the state attorney’s spokesperson told Pitchfork. “I cannot speak for the defense counsel.” Both sides requested the postponement so the prosecutor could set up questioning of defense witnesses, the spokesperson said. “However, at this point, the defense attorney has not yet made the defense witnesses available for us to depose. The defense attorney is now indicating he’s not free for the taking of the depositions until late October or early November.”

The outlet explained that Florida is one of the few states that allows lawyers to get pretrial statements from witnesses ahead of a court date. A new date has not yet been set.
