This is not a joking matter. Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill has been sentenced to 2 – 4 years in prison for a parole violation.

According to the Associated Press, Common Pleas Judge Genece Brinkley sentenced Meek because of a failed drug test and not heeding a court order that restricted his travel.

Reportedly, the prosecution actually recommended that Meek not be sentenced to prison, noting he had been clean since January.

However, it seems like a pair of cases that were dismissed (reckless driving in NYC and assaulting a fan in an airport) nevertheless affected the judge’s decision.

While Meek is responsible for the actions that led him to this fate, it seems like the judge was at her wit’s end since she noted she’s been dealing with the rapper in court for 10 years.

Per TMZ, the “Amen” rapper was immediately taken into custody and will have to serve a minimum of 2 years. Meek Mill’s lawyer plans to appeal.
