Despite executive titles and sneaker deals, Pusha T’s competitive drive to be considered Rap’s elite is still there. The Clipse rappers says his forthcoming album will be the best in 2018.

During a recent appearance at ComplexCon the Virginia native spoke to Billboard about putting the final touch on his anticipated but very delayed sophomore solo effort.  “I’m actually finishing it up. I’m probably working on my last song. I’m probably waiting on my last couple of features” he explained.

Kanye West hands are all over the project which only adds to Pusha’s confidence. “It’s going to be album of the year in 2018. Heavy raps, production by Kanye West from top to bottom. I’ve been in this for a long time, and one thing about me is it just has to be right.”

The “Numbers On The Board” rapper gave further details on Yeezy’s involvement which this time exceeds the standard producer role. “He A&R’s my album all the time. He will pick all of my beats. I’ll rap to all of the beats, song’s done. Then, he will listen to it and say, ‘Hey, I can do all of these beats better.’ It is Kanye West, and he’s probably the greatest producer of all time. So if he’s willing to take all of that time, then I can take my time. I think that’s my biggest accomplishment of being in the game this long is having the luxury to take your time.”

During his set at Made In America back in September Push A Ton admitted the album has been scrapped three times thus far due to the pair’s quest for sonic perfection.

Currently there is no set release date for King Push but rumor has the album is being groomed for a Q2 2018 drop. In the meantime you can vibe to his “Bodega Babies” homage to his newest adidas EQT sneaker.
