Peter Vecsey might want to start crafting either the most epic of apologies or be prepared for the fade of all fades, this after the veteran sportswriter’s racist tweet Monday night. During a scuffle between LeBron James and Enes Kanter, Vecsey used a blanked-out version of the n-word but with the hard ‘r’ if we’re counting the asterisks right.

“Like Kanter is gonna 2B intimidated by LeBron, guy who stood up 2 Tayyip Erdogan. Imagine him being scared of a n*****who breathes the same air as him,” Vecsey tweeted after things got testy between the Cavaliers and the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. Vecsey probably imagined himself being hip by quoting the Notorious B.I.G.’s “N*ggas Bleed” verse but that spelling was dumb questionable.

Of course, it didn’t take long for fans to take note of Vecsey jumping out there loud and incorrect, prompting many to wonder why a white man in his middle 70’s would even go there considering the climates he grew up in and the pulse of race relations in the world now.

A message to Vecsey: You know better. And if you don’t, it’s a damn shame that you’ve gotten this far along in life without learning a lesson taught many times over. You don’t have the right or the need to use the n-word, even in jest, and most especially in song. Just be a corny sportswriter and gracefully bow out. Watch this video if you need a little primer or why your fingers or your mouth need to ever go there again.
