August Alsina Says Def Jam Holding Album Back, Calls Label “Trash”

August Alsina hasn’t released a full project in over two years despite dropping a series of singles this year. It appears that the R&B crooner has issues with Def Jam, this after he answered a fan’s inquiry about his newest album via Twitter.

Twitter user @YungOlGenius tweeted to Alsina, “Ayo @AugustAlsina where is the album at bro?! 2017 was a tuff year. I need some of your newest work, I’m goin threw a lot of sh*t” Monday afternoon (Nov. 13).

Alsina replied with, “I would love to put my album out but DEF JAM is holding it/me hostage because the system is not up & running until next year so they basically dont exist. The label is just TRASH .. I will release free music soon but that has been the hold up. Tell Them to FREE ME & the Album.”

Yikes.

Alsina’s last full-length was 2015’s This Thing Called Life.
