The 2017 Soul Train Awards, starring Erykah Badu as the host, just completed its broadcast over the weekend and some of the game’s biggest stars gathered in celebration. Continuing her big 2017, Cardi B took home the Rhythm & Bars Award, the former Best Hip-Hop Song of the Year award, for “Bodak Yellow” with SZA winning the Best New Artist award.

Bruno Mars led the night’s winners dominating in top categories including Best R&B/Soul Male Artist, Video of the Year, Album/Mixtape of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Dance Performance. SZA followed with two awards, Best New Artist and Best R&B/Soul Female Artist.

Artists were honored across 12 different categories and additional winners included Cardi B for Rhythm & Bars Award for “Bodak Yellow,” Bell Biv Devoe and Ledisi (Soul Train Certified Award), Lecrae (Best Gospel/Inspirational Award), Solange “Cranes in the Sky” (The Ashford & Simpson Songwriter’s Award) and DJ Khaled ft. Rihanna and Bryson Tiller “Wild Thoughts” (Best Collaboration).

The event featured performances from R&B trio SWV with Wu-Tang Clan’s Method Man and U-God joining the group onstage for their track “Anything” along with a medley of their other hits. The regal Toni Braxton was honored with the Soul Train Legend award along with a tribute performance by Ro James, Jessie J., and Luke James. Other performances include Kirk Franklin with MAJOR, Le’Andria Johnson, Ledisi, and Daniel Caesar on the help out.

This year’s “Soul Cypher” with Badu on the wheels of steel featured Faith Evans, Fantasia, Bilal, and Mali Music.
