News of Prince Harry’s engagement to Black actress Meghan Markle has undoubtedly dominated the news cycle for much of Monday after the Royal Family’s formal announcement. Black Twitter‘s reaction to the news that the 32-year-old grandson of Queen Elizabeth II was marrying a melanin queen was all over the map as usual.
For the most part, folks on the fast-moving social media network have been chiming in with the memes and jokes but Black Twitter has especially ramped up their usual efforts for this go round. There were some unnecessarily racist tweets and negative commentary from the hater section but that was drowned out by the good-natured stuff. Still, many aren’t feeling the sudden fervor around the moment but that’s to be expected.
