It is not where you’re at, it’s where you are from. Rihanna will be honored with her own street name in her hometown.

Barbados officials have announced that they are changing Westbury New Road to Rihanna Drive. The distinction will turn the street that she grew up on to an official homage to the singer. The island’s Ministry of Tourism looked at the change as a no-brainier as her former home is a main attraction for many sightseers.

An official press release stated “Additionally, it was thought necessary to highlight the many achievements of the Grammy Award-winning singer, entrepreneur and philanthropist.” The ceremonial unveiling, called, “Our Diamond – The Rihanna Drive Project” will also feature a pole sign and a 8×5 signboard endorsed by Prime Minister Freundel Stuart and RiRi herself.

Located in the Saint Michael parish, Rihanna lived at this residence until she was 16. Naturally her entire family got an upgrade along with her and have moved on to more spacious living arrangements.

The street sign is already up but there will be a invite only event on Thursday, November 30 to coincide with Barbados’ 51st anniversary of independence from Britain. The Fenty Beauty mogul is expected to be in attendance.
