Legendary producer DJ Premier is gearing up to release his first album project through his record label his Year Round Records imprint, titled Get Used To Us.

According to published reports, the upcoming collaboration LP will feature guest appearances by Styles P, Royce 5’9, Joell Ortiz, Saigon, Papoose, KRS-One, Grand Puba, and MC Eiht.

The producer will also feature two of his latest Year Round artists, Nick Javas and Khaleel, alongside label-mates NYG’z.

As for why he chose to release his compilation album in 4th quarter, Premier told Ballerstatus.net that high demand for his expertise is what kept his project on hold.

“I chose to release this LP while I put the finishing touches on all of the projects that were due for 2010,” Premier said. “I figured, why not pull a song from each project as well as the remixes that were only available on 12” inch vinyl last year. Since I am independent and I do not have to worry about following the map that our industry goes by, my goal is to release more than six albums in 2011.”

In addition to preparing for his collaboration project, Premier is also working on projects with Pete Rock (Pete Rock vs DJ Premier) and KRS-One (Return Of The Boom Bip) among others.

“I am a street DJ! Street DJ’s set the trends of what is good way before everyone knows what is happening,” Premier continued. “Street DJ’s are like weathermen, we know when it is sunny, rainy, snowy, hurricanes; you name it before it actually hits. To prove my independence, I am dropping 4 singles and videos all at once.”

The Get Used To It compilation is scheduled to hit stores on December 7th.
