Teacher Fired For Biting Student

A teacher in Florida has been fired after reportedly biting a student in her classroom.

According to WPTV, a substitute teacher at a Belvedere Elementary in West Palm Beach was fired after he bit a child in the classroom on the arm.

Although the reasoning behind the attack is unknown, two teachers in the classroom said they witnessed the teacher biting the student and reported it to authorities.

“This is upsetting to us, “Nat Harrington, Public Information Officer with Palm Beach County Schools said. “This is the first time this particular substitute has worked in this school, and I believe in this district.”

The man, whom school district officials refused to identify, was filling in for a speech teacher in a special needs classroom seemed to be unscathed by neither the incident nor the result.

“We do have enough evidence to indicate that there was inappropriate behavior on the part of a substitute teacher,” said Harrington. “There is a police investigation, and there’s also an employee investigation, those have just been launched.”

After learning what happened, the principal escorted the man out of the classroom and states that the man replied:

“You don’t need to pay me for today, you’ll never see me again.”

The child’s mother and grandmother states that although the substitute has been terminated, their child will not be returning to the school and in addition is still affected by the incident.

”He is very scared,” the boy’s mother said. “Even though he cannot say how he feels, he will not let anyone touch his hand.”

As of press time the name of the substitute was not released and no word on whether there will be criminal charges filed.
