Barack Obama Lookalike Promoting Fried Chicken In Hong Kong

Some people will do anything to get a presidential stamp of approval and lately that includes using a fake president to promote their product.

In January, KFC Hong Kong aired a commercial with the a faux U.S Commander In Chief giving props to the Colonel; Colonel Sanders that is.

In the ad, the Obama lookalike is depicted campaigning for KFC’s new Fish Fillet Soft Roll sandwich.

The controversial plug was aired in Hong Kong ahead of President Hu Jintao’s state visit to the USA.

KFC Honk Kong has since pulled the ad and released this statement:

The ad was created in Hong Kong for the Hong Kong market only. It was meant to be a spoof and no disrespect was intended. It is no longer airing and will not be re-aired.

Apparently, Obama is a seen as the quintessential spokesperson in China.

According to reports, this is not the first time the president’s likeness has been used to promote products overseas. The president’s face has been used in Chinese ads for everything from toilet paper dispensers to cheese balls.
