Aretha Franklin is confirming reports that her health is improving, thanks in part to a healthy diet.

As previously reported, the Queen Of Soul was said to be suffering from pancreatic cancer but denied those reports and asked for privacy about a mystery illness that landed her in the hospital.

Since her diagnosis, Franklin made a video appearance on Sunday night’s Grammy’s looking noticeably slimmer and in good spirits.

According to the songstress that’s because she’s given up three of her favorite foods; pig’s feet, ham hocks and chitterlings.

Franklin, 68, told The Associated Press that she had to give up the fatty foods to continue losing weight and hopefully drop another dress size.

“I want to not only maintain the weight I am at now, but better it, by one dress size.”

Franklin hopes to drop down to a size 16 and has been shopping at Whole Foods stores to make healthier choices where her favorite southern delicacies are off limits.

“They’re off my diet. They just really don’t fit with Whole Foods,” she said. “I had it for enough years that I don’t miss it. You can’t continue to eat things that are not good for you.”

In addition to losing weight, she’s as set her first concert since surgery on May 28 at the Seneca Niagara Casino in Buffalo, N.Y., and is set to release her long-awaited album, Aretha: A Woman Falling Out of Love, the first week of May.
