Aretha Franklin Denies Gastric Bypass Rumors

Aretha Franklin is denying reports that she was the latest celebrity to undergo weight loss surgery.

As previously reported, the soul singer underwent surgery for a mystery illness and suddenly appeared 80 pounds thinner.

According to Aretha however, rumors of gastric bypass surgery are completely untrue and she’s simply been using a proper diet and exercise to shed pounds.

She tells Access Hollywood,

“That [gastric bypass] is something I would never ever do. I had a cousin who had that surgery and she turned green and she passed.”

She also added,

It’s really not necessary to talk about one’s personal medical [health].”
