Oprah Psyched About Broadway Acting Debut

With her long-running talk show scheduled to air is last episode later this month, billionaire mogul Oprah Winfrey is already looking towards future endeavors.

First up to bat may be an inaugural appearance on Broadway.

Reportedly Oprah recently met with theater producers in New York to discuss what roles they have to offer.

Oprah, who started her career in acting, has always had an ambition to perform on the Big Apple’s main stage and seems to be closer to attaining her goal.

“I have a stack of plays in my bag right now that I am reading. And just this past weekend, I was in New York meeting with producers. We were just talking about what would be the best route to take. But yes, this is really going to happen… Life is too short. I think that an ensemble production is the way I should go,” Oprah recently told The Chicago Tribune.

Oprah later revealed that she previously aspired to appear in the hit play Fences and even considered moving her show location to accommodate.

“I had always wanted to do Fences. I went through the idea of trying to take my show to New York, shoot a show during the daytime and appear on Broadway at night. But I couldn’t do it. And finally, Kenny (Leon, director) said he couldn’t wait any longer.”

The last original episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show is scheduled to air on May 25.
