Businessman Herman Cain Set To Join 2012 GOP Race

Businessman, author, talk radio show host and tea party representative Herman Cain is preparing to make his run for 2nd Black United States president official.

According to reports, Cain will announce his candidacy at a rally in Atlanta, GA on Saturday.

Cain’s announcement will come as no surprise.

In previous reports, for months the 65-year-old has been vocal in his criticism of President Obama, and his interest in replacing him as U.S. president.

“Now people are over this first black President thing,” the former part owner of Godfather Pizza said in March. “But there are some people who will say, ‘I’m not going to vote for another black guy because this one didn’t work out.’

“And my response is, ‘Well, what about those 43 white guys you put in there? How did they work out?’

“Don’t condemn me because the first black one was bad.”

The “Hermanator,” as he’s called in his political campaigns, has never held elected office.

In a previous campaign attempt, he lost a three-way Republican U.S. Senate primary bid in Georgia in 2004 with a quarter of the vote.

Cain would be a long-shot to win the presidential election, but seems to be a crowd favorite in the GOP race for president.
