Attorney General Eric Holder Demands ‘The Wire’ Return for Sixth Season

Yesterday in Washington, D.C., U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder made a random request while speaking at an Interagency Drug Endangered Children Task Force event.

Attorney General Holder used the event as a platform to beg for additional shows of the HBO series “The Wire.”

Holder was joined by cast members from the show, and made the following statement, “I want to speak directly to Mr. Burns and Mr. Simon: Do another season of ‘The Wire’,” Holder said, which drew laughter and applause from the audience.

“That’s actually at a minimum. … If you don’t do a season, do a movie. We’ve done HBO movies, this is a series that deserves a movie. I want another season or I want a movie. I have a lot of power Mr. Burns and Mr. Simon.”

The HBO series ended in 2008 after five seasons.

In addition, cast members of “The Wire” attended the event to help draw attention to real-life child victims of drug crimes.

Still, “Wire” fans all across the global can feel Holder’s pain.

While this may not have been the proper place to make such a request, you have to applaud Holder for making a case when the opportunity presented itself.
