X-factor judge and former Def Jam executive, L.A. Reid is back and ready to run things and according to the Hollywood Reporter, has taken a new position at Sony Music as chairman of Epic Records.

The resurrected label will be affiliated with its new counterpart Jive Records.

With his new title, Reid will be picking up where songwriter Amanda Ghost left off after her one year stint nearly led the company to its downfall.

The new position will also mean Reid will be reunited with two of the artists he was responsible for developing—Usher and Pink.

Sources say Reid is expected to take over his new seat early July.

A spokesperson for Sony Music declined any comment.
