The reinvention of Planet VI continues for the group formerly known as Rock City with the release of their new mixtape American Dream. Chase N Cashe, Dom Kennedy, Cassie, Kardinal Offishall, 2Chainz and Musiq Soulchild also fall through as the superproducers and songwriters (Rihanna's "Man Down") drill home the point that they came into the game as MCs, in case y'all forgot.

As previously reported, the duo broke from Akon's Konvict Music last year after battling with Kon and Interscope on the group's direction.

The Ruff Ryders compilation album is scheduled for release November 21, 2011 with a brand new video for “Freaky” the single features, Akon, Jadakiss, Mook and Shella.

Partnering with Fontana/Universal Distribution, Ruff Ryders Indy Inc. the compilation also features Ruff Ryder mainstays DMX, Jadakiss, Styles P, Sheek, Eve, Swizz Beatz and Drag-On.

1 More Hit is a rockumentary based around the seven years that producer J-Swift battled his addiction to crack cocaine to get clean. Swift was responsible for The Pharcyde's hit "Passing Me By," and even produced for Prince, but in the late 90's he fell victim to the world of drugs and his friend, director and producer Shauna Garr was able to capture his journey on camera.

The film first premiered in 2007 but it is now slated for a Video On Demand release on December 5, 2011 and it will be available in 16.5 million homes in the U.S.  It began as a pilot for a reality show in 2004 but now it is a full-length documentary that includes commentary from Method Man, Paul Mooney, Akon, Mike Epps and more stars speaking on artists and drug addiction.

Asher Roth returns with a live action video for "Last Man Standing" featuring Akon.

The video is for the first single from Is This Too Orange? and it's directed by Luke Tedaldi and features animation by comic book artist Chris Hunt.

The rapper battles villains and eventually has to go at it with himself. Check it out below.

Akon takes a moment from counting his Gaga money to release a new track.

It was just an average day at the HipHopWired office, as we sat around listening to The-Dream's new 1977 album, when it dawned on us...you know, The-Dream can't really sing.

Don't get us wrong, Dream is one of the best songwriters in the business and his singing or lack thereof, has never stopped him from putting out quality music.

But lets be real Terius Nash wouldn't stand a chance in an American Idol competition.

And Dream definitley isn't the only singer out there that struggles vocally.

Simmonds, a Virgin Islands native and recent Konvict signee, is probably best known for his 2009 hit "Buy You A Round (Up & Down") and latest single "Boo Thang" featuring Kelly Rowland.
