Brown's Nucelar Family Plant is just the latest in noose-related hate crimes. In February a black man was convicted of mailing a noose to the home of an interracial couple, and in 2010 a Obama doll was found with a rope around its neck, hanging from a sign in Plains, Georgia.

According to authorities the angry mob attacked Owens after he got into an argument with children playing basketball last weekend. After the youngsters left, a group of 20 adults carrying chairs, brass knuckles, pipes, and paint cans, made their way to Owens' doorstep. One person is alleged to have uttered "Now that's justice for Trayvon," after the attack.

Police were unable to find any suspects at the scene, but made an arrest Wednesday (April 25) morning. "It was the scariest thing I have ever witnessed," Owens' sister, Ashley Parker, told local news station WKRG News 5. Owens and the unidentified suspect have had an ongoing feud since 2009, according to the Mobile County District Attorney's Office.

Although it hasn't been determined if Owens provoked the altercation, neighbors witnessed him chasing off the group of children with kitchen knives. He also has a history of violent offenses, and has been arrested numerous times for domestic violence, assault, and sexual abuse.

Martin's death in February has contributed to racial tension across the country after his accused killer, George Zimmerman, was initially let go. One month later, second-degree murder charges were brought against the former neighborhood watch volunteer, who turned himself in to authorities. Zimmerman has since been released from custody after posting $150,000 bond.

Aaron McDowell, 18, of Alexander City, Bernard Nix, 17, of Alexander City, and Stalandus Slaughter, 25, of Eclectic were arrested Wednesday (January 5) and charged with the crimes.

The trio is accused of killing Kenyatta Kendrick and wounding her 19-year-old uncle Darren Kendrick in a drive by shooting that took place in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.

The young girl was shot in the chest as she slept.

Darren Kendrick was struck once in the left hip and once in the left ankle and is in stable condition.

The house was hit by at least 18 rounds fired from a high-pow­ered rifle, according to authorities.

Also in the house at the time were Kenyatta's mother, brother, and two un­cles.

Authorities still have not revealed who the target of the shooting was citing their ongoing investigation, but believe one of the three men had an ongoing beef with someone in the house.

The McDowell, Nix and Slaughter are being held in the El­more County Jail without bond on the capital murder charges. Additional charges, possibly attempted murder charges, could be filed against them also.

The unnamed minor told reporters that she and her friend arranged to have sex with three boys from their high school early last week, one of which was the minor's boyfriend.

Monroe County District Attorney Tom Chapman reports,

“The victim told police that the attack did begin as consensual contact but when all three suspects began to join in, she told them no repeatedly, but they did not stop."

The victim required surgery for her injuries and was in intensive care for three days.

Investigators said the two girls left Monroe County High School with Steven Scott, 20, DeShon Riley, 16, and Justin Williams, 17, before the start of classes the day of the attack. They then took turns assaulting the victim. The minor claimed to not have been raped but a medical examination determined that she had intercourse as well.

The men took the two girls back to school where the injured girl sat in bloody clothes for hours until school officials called police.

The three men are currently in jail for felony rape. Their bond is set at $500,000.

I can't keep writing about stories like this because it makes me so angry!!!!!

Where are the parents?! Where are the administrators that let this girl sit around for hours in bloody clothes before calling police?!

The fact that these idiots raped this girl and brought her back to school like nothing happened shows how sick and twisted these little boys are. Lock ‘em up for life! They deserve it!

And as far as the other girl...SMH….I have no words.

The 63-year-old was found guilty of corruption after it was revealed that he accepted nearly $236,000 in gifts and cash in return for guiding government contracts toward his long-time friend and investment banker, Bill Blount.

Interim Mayor Carole Smitherman assumed mayor duties immediately after Langford's banishment from office.

Langford, found guilty on 60 counts felony counts of bribery and fraud, is facing what is likely to amount to a life sentence if leniency is not granted on his behalf.

This shocking move comes as Birmingham‘s Jefferson County attempts to avoid a bankruptcy filling that would be the largest in history, currently sitting at $3.9 billion. That amount totally dwarfs the old record of $1.6 billion  set by Orange County, California in 1994.

Many denizens of Birmingham, Alabama's largest city, are fiercely supportive of the ousted mayor due largely to his success in cleaning their neighborhood. He also procured laptops for the children of Jefferson County and began building a new domed stadium with a $530 million price tag.

An election commission has scheduled a mayoral election for the beginning of December.

The 48-year-old former circuit judge has formally been accused of having sex with several male inmates within Alabama's prison sentence in exchange for leniency.

Once the Democratic Party's number one choice to be the first Black federal judge in the state of Alabama, Thomas is also facing charges of sodomy, kidnapping, extortion, sex abuse, and assault in a case that he has deemed as nothing more than a politically motivated “high-tech lynching.”

The case against the former judge has been nearly two years in the making after several prisoners revealed candid accounts about what actually went on in Herman's chambers.

15 current and former prisoners are set to testify against the long-time judge at the trial.

Herman adamantly reaffirms his innocence, leaving lawyer Robert Clark to give the “actual” reason behind the fiasco.

“They didn't like uppity Black folks,” said Clark, “and that's what they consider Herman.”

Court records indicate that several inmates involved in the case were checked out of jail for meetings with former Judge Thomas, all of which took place in either his car or office.

Thomas maintain that he was merely mentoring the inmates.

The trial is set to last several weeks. If convicted of the charges, he could serve life in prison.
