Jay-Z Performs At Carnegie Hall, Brings Out Nas [Video]

Last night (Feb. 6th), Jay-Z took over New York City's famed, Carnegie Hall. Hov is no stranger to surprise guest appearances, and accompanying him for a portion of his set, was "NY State of Mind" co-star, Alicia Keys. But, the surprise guest was QB's Finest, Nas, who performed a rendition of his classic version of the song, off his Illmatic Lp. Anytime you get two of the greatest MC's of all time on stage together, it's sure to be a classic moment in Hip-Hop. Both MC's appeared in black tuxedos, to rock a packed house. In the first of two scheduled shows for Jay, one can only hope that there will be a repeat collaborative performance.

Not to be outdone, Blue Ivy Carter also made an appearance, in the form of Jay-Z's "Glory," which features Princess Carter. Fans sang along, as Hov's jubilation from becoming a father for the first time was very evident, as he performed the ode to "daddy's little girl."

The concert will benefit the United Way of New York City as well as Hov's Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation. All tickets listed at $500 and above include a donation, while $1,250 tickets include access to an exclusive after-party held at Manhattan's Hudson Hotel. $1,500 tickets will buy concert goers access to the show as well as an after-party at Jay's newly renovated 40/40 Club.

Megaupload CEO Swizz Beatz Gets Hip-Hop Star Pals In Trouble

Working with Swizz Beatz can get you a hit record and a lawsuit. The New York Post reports that the record labels of Sean “Diddy” Combs, Kanye West and will.i.am, amongst others, were not pleased when they learned the participated in a video promo for Megaupload.

Apparently it was Swizz, who is listed as Megaupload's CEO, who convinced the aforementioned artists, including his wife Alicia Keys, to participate in the clip promoting the file storign and sharing service. However, since sites like Megaupload make trading pirated music easy, they have drawn the scorn of the recording industry. Although Megaupload contends the majority of their users use their service legitimately, the Universal Music Group immediately demanded the video (see below) be taken down, citing that its artists performed without permission.

Megaupload has countered with a lawsuit of its own. “We have never received any word that any artist has [individually] filed a take-down . . . [we have] legally binding agreements with the performers that appear in the video,” a Megaupload rep told the Post. “They promised that they had the rights to enter into that agreement and it's not interfering with any third-party rights.”

This Can't Be Life: When Stage Crashing Goes Wrong

Let's be honest, we've all gotten a little hype while at a concert of our favorite artist. If you're not excited to see said artist perform, why pay for the ticket? Controlled enthusiasm is always encouraged. But, you never want to be "That Person," that had a little too much fun and became a star on TMZ, MediaTakeout, and of course, Bossip.

In some instances we see fans that get so excited, that they decide to make an appearance on stage with their favorite performer. Sharing that moment with your new bff can go extremely wrong as seen in a recent report by TMZ when an overzealous fan jumped on stage to share a bond, hug, or some sort of WWE Wrestling move with DMX. Of all people DMX is probably the LAST artist you should attempt to jump on stage to greet. I guess X didn't respond to that kite he sent him, while locked away in his most recent prison stint. While it wasn't the smartest of decisions as you'll see, I doubt he'd attempt it again. In the words of Kevin Hart, "You Gon' Learn Today!"
