The headphones, the Beats Pro model which cost about $400 each, are definitely a much better look than those Ugg boots Tom Brady outfitted the squad with.

Beats By Dre headphones have become ubiquitous, whether in music videos or on the street. Despite its success, there is an impending shake up at the company. Business Week reports that Beats Electronics, co-owned by Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre, has decided not to renew its five year contract with Monster Cable Products, which is up at the end of year.

It seems like the split, which both companies say was on good terms, is over who gets credit for Beats By Dre's success, with the latter seeking a bigger share of revenues. Monster will go forward with its own line of headphones, including models branded with Earth, Wind & Fire and Miles Davis. Beats still has ties with HTC smartphones, HP computers and audio systems in cars like the Chrysler 300.

“We have very big ambitions for Beats beyond headphones,” says Iovine. “Music has got to succeed on the phone or else the record industry will never thrive.”

Dr. Dre has had his fair share of beefs over the years with former partners like Suge Knight, Eazy-E and Ice Cube,  and now PETA has thrown its name into the "FCUK Dre" hat.

The animal rights organization is upset with the good Dr. and designer Oscar de la Renta who are about to release a limited edition  pair of Beats By Dre headphones wrapped in silver fox fur. 

PETA representative Michelle Cho issued an open  letter to Dre advocating for the headphones to be discontinued. Part of the letter read:

We wanted to get in touch to urge you to keep fur and exotic-animal skins out of your Beats by Dre designs.  Foxes, minks, rabbits, and other animals including cats and dogs—are bludgeoned, genitally electrocuted, strangled with wire nooses, drowned, and even skinned alive for their pelts.

You have a tremendous amount of influence on young people.  Won't you please consider using your platform to advocate kindness toward animals by pledging never to design with real fur and exotic skins?

The Fox Fur Beats By Dre Headphones run a whopping $695.

I doubt PETA has that much to worry about as these won't be mass produced for this price.

Detox on the way? Nope. But Dr. Dre has got some more headphones for that azz. The Doc stars in a new commercial for his new line of Limited Edition Beats Studio Colors, just in time for the holidays. Asking price, $299.

Dr. Dre has been cranking out hits and molding careers for 27 years and at the opening of the Beats By Dre store in SoHo, he told The Fader that he would be taking a break.

“These are the next two artists I'm working on, Slim Da Mobster and Kendrick Lamar. I think that's when I'm gonna just wrap it up for a minute because I've been working on music for 27 years now and the longest I've ever been out of the studio in 27 years has been two weeks.”

Dre says he's shocked how well his headphone line is doing and now he wants to be second only to Apple and break into the microphone business.

"I'm never gonna stop music, it's like air to me," says The Doctor. But with no mention of Detox, where does that leave the mythical album?

Dr. Dre unveiled the Holiday Collection of his Beats By Dre headphones yesterday (October 11) in New York City.

Flanked by Interscope chairman and business partner, Jimmy Iovine, Dre showed off the new line of his expensive ear speakers including wireless on-ear Bluetooth headphones and a portable iPod speaker dock.

Dr. Dre has inked yet another deal that will continue to take attention away from him ever releasing his Detox album.

According to reports, smartphone company HTC is investing $300 million into Dr. Dre and record producer Jimmy Iovine's Beats By Dre.

The Los Angeles Times reports:

The injection of money will give HTC one of the largest stakes in Beats, but the company will remain autonomous from HTC.

Beats also counts Monster Cable as an investor and will still work with other companies such as HP, providing speakers for laptops and tablets, and Chrysler, providing speakers for sedans, said Iovine, who is chairman of Beats and chief executive of Interscope records.

But HTC will have some smartphones with Beats audio included in stores by the end of the year, he said.

"Getting Beats audio into HTC phones is one of the first things we're going to do," Iovine said in an interview.

"We are going to be in business with HTC and they're going to help us and were going to help them in every way they can.

"And you'll see Beats audio in just about every phone or tablet they want it to be in, but they know what we've built and respect the brand and will help us continue to innovate and push Beats further."

With it's new investor, expect Beats By Dre to continue in its quest to be the leader in quality headphone and audio equipment, and in the process, make Dr. Dre even more richer than he already is...which basically means Detox is never coming out (as if it ever really was).

Beat Electronics LLC, the company owned by super producer Dr. Dre that produces his signature headphone line, is being summoned to court by rival headphone maker, Signeo USA.

The lawsuit was filed June 2 in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.

Details are scarce but the suit also names Monster Cable as a defendant in the case.

Signeo USA is the manufacturer of the Soul headphone line marketed by Ludacris.

As previously reported, Ludacris' Soul headphones stand behind the principle that you should "experience that feeling with each listen."

A court ruling awarded legendary hip hop producer Dr. Dre the rights to 100% of all digital royalties from his critically acclaimed solo LP, The Chronic.

Judge Christina Snyder, who rendered the verdict ruled that when WIDEawake purchased Death Row's assets in 2009 they were restricted to selling Death Row's catalog in the original format in which they appeared.

Meaning they have no right make profits off digital sales.

“For years, Death Row Records forgot about Dre when they continued to distribute his music digitally and combined his hits with weaker Death Row tracks in an attempt to elevate the stature of their other artists,” Dr. Dre's attorney Howard King wrote in a prepared statement.

“We are gratified that the federal court has unambiguously declared that Death Row has no right to engage in such tactics, and must hold all proceeds from these illicit distributions in trust for our client.”

As previously reported, Dre filed the suit with Death Row (now owned by WIDEawake Entertainment) last February, shortly after the label released a re-release of the The Chronic, The Chronic: Relit and a greatest hits album without his permission.

Dre was seeking $75,000 for breach of contract, false advertising and trademark infringement.

After venting on Twitter yesterday about his perceived misunderstanding with Dr. Dre and Interscope chairman Jimmy Iovine, rap mogul 50 Cent is now claiming him and Jim are back seeing eye to eye.

According to 50 the record label head and Dre were upset with him for his new line of headphones "Sleek By 50" which are direct competition to their popular "Beats By Dre."

The Queens rapper Tweeted this late last night,

“Jimmies not mad at me any more we kicked it. I just have to talk to DRE now.”

Fif then posted this picture of him and the Interscope co-founder.
