NYPD commissioner Raymond Kelly and Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said that Corley was finally nabbed after a 15-month wiretap and surveillance operation although his savvy kept the drug supplier on the streets since the 1980. Corley supplied cocaine to another Queens street gang, the South Side Bloods, and other bit players who grossed about $15,000 a week. Forty-four other members of Corley's joint operation with Bloods and Supreme Team were also slapped with charges.

After realizing his phones were being tapped, Corley wisely avoided communication with the outside as members of his own organization weren't even aware of his location at times. NYPD's Detective David Leonardi put the case together, noting in the charges that the gangs used “Supreme Mathematics” and the “Supreme Alphabet,” the language system used by members of the Nation of Islam offshoot group Nation Of Gods and Earths (also known as “Five Percenters”). Leonardi was able to decipher the coded language, and the phone taps yielded news on illegal guns and a possible murder in South Carolina.

The Supreme Team came to prominence under the leadership Kenneth “Supreme” McGriff, now serving life without parole after a 2007 conviction. McGriff was closely aligned to fellow Queens native Irv “Gotti” Lorenzo and reportedly poured money into Gotti's Murder, Inc. music operation. The Supreme Team was the bane of the NYPD since the late 80s, especially after the 1988 shooting of police officer Edward Byrne.

In an interview with Real Talk NY, Waka states that anger and a need to express himself drove him to Hip-Hop.

“I was angry,” Waka said in the interview. “I needed a way to express myself and rapping was it.”

In addition to discussing his motivation for jumping into the game, Waka Flocka also reveals that people have the wrong depiction when it comes to his intelligence.

“I think the biggest misconception people have about me is the fact they think I'm stupid,” Waka continued. “The look at me and think I am the typical down south rapper and you know what that's good because then they are surprised when I bust they A$$.”

Waka also states that the opinion of critics really don't matter.

“When I hear what people say, it really goes in one ear and out the other,” Waka added. “I really don't care, so if you don't like me, f**k you.”

"It ain't just you a Blood when it's convenient, cause you got a camera and it looks cool.”

While gang life is feared by many that are on the outside and do not represent a particular sets, gang affiliation is heavily promoted within Hip-Hop by rappers.

Sporting rags, throwing up hand signals and shouting distinct cries in music videos, some feel as though there is a misrepresentation of gangs, especially Bloods.

During an interview with Complex Magazine, rapper Nipsey Hussle spoke on how gangs are portrayed in the rap game and he actually pays attention to.

“My concern is the N***as that are really in the Isht. I'm more focused on giving solutions and inspiration more than anything. But to answer your question, I feel like it's fraudulent. Straight up. If you ain't put on to this s**t, you wasn't courted on, you ain't going to the back of the buildings to fight, your homies didn't get put on, you not from a gang. Not only are you not from a gang, if you ain't press a line and put in work, not necessarily kill nobody but you know, put yours on the line.

If you 35, 28, or 30 years old, and you decide you're gonna pick up a rag and start bangin', and you can look yourself in the mirror and you still feel like you're a man? That's cool, do your thing.”

Hussle also established exactly what it means to really live the gang life.

“When you around 100 Crips, you still a Blood. When 40-Glocc and them run up on you, you still a Blood. And I ain't talking about Wayne. I got respect for they movement and I like the dude as an artist. But I'm just saying on some gangbang Isht, when you go to the county jail and you walk in the court tank and it's 50 of your enemies, you still gonna say the 60s (Rollin 60 Neighborhood Crips)  or you not a gangbanger.”

In an industry where imaginary players outweigh real people, it's hard to draw the line between the real and the fake, but some find means in obtaining a person's credibility when it relates to repping the set.

As a story revolving around gang life, Ving Rhames plays the role of Cain, a notorious gang member that holds a firm grip on the streets, but inevitably finds himself behind prison walls.

Many inmates are under the influence that his death will lead to their own climb and countless efforts are made on his life.

Stating that he has no fears, his son, played by Nipsey Hussle is brought into prison as well and he must now find a means to keep his offspring protected.

With Hussle's character being a Crip, even more tension builds once it is known that his long time rival, played by Gillie Da Kid, and Blood member, is also sleeping in the same confines.

Directed by Ryan Combs and produced by Ving Rhames , Evan Louis and Eugene Henley, expect to see the film in 2010 although no official release date has been given.

Gangs are reportedly using the sites to “cyber bully” or make threats as well as share information on rival gangs and meet members from across the country.

Thousands of arrests have been made based on information gained from the websites including the arrest of three gang members who were ousted by tweets on Twitter.

Agents say their latest tactics include posing as pretty girls on the sites and sending flirty messages and friend requests. They also report that they have informants that give them access to their accounts.

A recent case of social networking gone wrong took place in Los Angeles after agents say the speedy release of a gang member from jail led people to believe he was a police informant. They reported seeing a tweet from an account they were monitoring saying,

“We have a snitch in our midst.”

While the use of Twitter and Facebook is on the rise, police still say that Myspace is still gang member's online avenue of choice.

Doesn't everyone know the government can see everything? If you're in a gang why would you post it on Twitter?

“Me personally, I feel like if you banging outside of California, stay there cause if you come back to California where it originated at, we have different sets of rules and regulations that don't apply to you n*ggas and you will become victim of circumstances.”

Gang life used to be a means to bring together Black men and form a type of Brotherhood.  Although prejudged as something negative and only bringing trouble, the origination of the Bloods and the Crips wasn't based around violence, but more of an outlet to build family relations.

These days, gangs have been a catalyst to crime and increased violence within the community as the youth, whether due to ignorance or immaturity, have used their affiliations as a way to intimidate those that are outside of the set.  Gangs have sporadically popped up across the country leaving chaos at their footprints.

As a Crip of the old school, Snoop Dogg caught up with DJ Green Lantern to speak on the current status of gang life and how it has transitioned drastically from what it was initially.

“I'm proud, but at the same time, I'm disappointed because there's no understanding.  It's cool to be in a gang, it's cool because gangs breed love and family and friendship.  A lot of people don't understand the positives of being in a gang.  If there's no understanding or explanation of why this gang was created, what's the origins of this gang, the rules and regulations, then it becomes a disappointment.”

Feeling as though many are heavily influenced by the media, many are feeding into the visuals portrayed on the television or movies and are allowing others to infiltrate their thought process to give them false representation of being in a gang.

“I feel like a lot of these guys watch TV and they see it, then a couple of guys come from out of town and they brainwash them and they get em and they just gangbangin' for no reason.  When we was doing it, we was brought up in it.  We understood the rules and regulations.  We were there for the foundation.  We knew why we were getting involved and knew the consequences.  These youngsta's that's in it right now don't understand the consequences.  They don't realize that their life is on the line every five minute.”

The rapper also spoke on reppin' sets in Hip Hop and how some artists may need to watch how much they expose themselves when they are on music videos and on the Internet.

“Then, when you find a young rapper who takes on the gangbang mode, who ain't from California, and he goes to California, and some real n*ggas ride up on him from the other side, it's like ‘N*gga, what you was claiming?  We done already did our YouTube research on you and all that.  You flaggin that Shyte and you ain't really a real one?'”

Without naming particular rappers, Snoop stated that there are certain rapper flaggin sets in different areas of the country, but will be quickly approached when they arrive in California.  Without particular badges and documentation from people on the West Coast, some of these rappers have landed themselves in hot water once they touched down into the state.

“I've always expressed on songs that if you come to L.A., you need to come get at a couple of people, I'm one of them.  If you don't get at me, you're in trouble.”

Yayo's man and employee Lowell Fletcher, a.k.a. Lodi Mack, allegedly flashed a gun at the kid then ended up taking the rap. Fletcher, who was also a lieutenant in the Bloods, went to jail for that and an unrelated charge. He just got out on parole in the middle of September 2009.

By Sept. 27 Lowell Fletcher, 32, was killed on Jerome Ave. and Goble Place around 9:30 p.m. in the Bronx, NY. Investigators believe he was ambushed by several men that night.

Police are looking to the 2007 case for answers and the guess is this murder was payback for the incident 2 years ago.

Tony Yayo twittered ""R.I.P TO LODI MACK. GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN." And deleted the message later.
