Sad news to report today, legendary boxing promoter Butch Lewis passed away at the age of 65.

According to the New York Times:

Butch Lewis, the flamboyant boxing promoter and manager best known for getting Michael Spinks a $13.5 million payday for what became 91 seconds in the ring with Mike Tyson, died Saturday at his home in Bethany Beach, Del. He was 65.

His death was announced by Terrie Williams, a representative of his family, who said it was from natural causes.

Condolences go out to the friends and family of Butch Lewis.

Professional boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is being sued by a 21-year-old man, who claims Mayweather ordered his bodyguards to attack him at a casino in Las Vegas last year, after the man made a comment about a long-awaited Mayweather fight with Manny Pacquiao.

Reports by ESPN state:

The lawsuit alleges Mayweather's bodyguards attacked Anthony Cliff of Las Vegas near a valet parking stand at the Palms Casino Resort on March 27, 2010, after Mayweather accused Cliff of "disrespecting" him.

Mayweather's bodyguards allegedly struck Cliff in the face, slamming his head into the ground. They then kicked him repeatedly in his back and side, the lawsuit says.

Mayweather's attorney did not respond Monday to a request for comment. A spokesman for the Palms said casino officials do not comment on pending litigation.

Las Vegas police spokesman Jacinto Rivera said that an alleged battery at the Palms involving Mayweather and his entourage was reported, but the case was suspended because witnesses and casino video surveillance did not identify any suspects.

The lawsuit accuses Mayweather of assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligent hiring, training, supervision and retention of employees.

Pacquiao and Mayweather have come close to reaching a deal for potentially the most lucrative fight in boxing history multiple times, but they have yet to meet in the ring.

Mayweather has a history of court dealings.

Most recently, he failed to turn up for a court-ordered deposition in Las Vegas earlier this month in a federal lawsuit alleging he defamed Pacquiao.

Mayweather also faces felony charges stemming from a domestic argument and misdemeanor harassment and battery charges in separate cases.

Surely, Floyd "Money" Mayweather has enough cash to make this case go away, kind of like how Bishop Eddie Long paid his accusers to get off his back.

Floyd can probably settle for a lot less than $25 million, though.

Mayweather, who hasn't fought in over a year, will face Victor Ortiz on September 17th.

Floyd Mayweather was a no-show in court on Friday, for a court-ordered deposition in a case with fellow boxer Manny Pacquiao Case.

A lawyer for boxer Manny Pacquiao says rival boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. failed to appear for a court-ordered deposition in Las Vegas in a federal civil lawsuit alleging that Mayweather defamed Pacquiao.

Attorney Daniel Petrocelli says Mayweather didn't show Friday to provide sworn testimony despite federal Magistrate Judge Robert Johnston's ruling Thursday that he must appear.

They argued Thursday that Mayweather needed to concentrate on training for a Sept. 17 fight against Victor Ortiz.

Petrocelli tells The Associated Press he'll seek a default finding that Mayweather defamed Pacquiao with statements accusing Pacquiao of taking performance-enhancing drugs.

We'd much rather see Mayweather and Pacquiao meet in the ring, but at this rate, we won't see them in the court either.

Professional boxer Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. is finally ready to take a break from "blowing money fast" and finding out "What Chili Wants" to return to the boxing ring.

On Tuesday, Mayweather announced on Twitter that he will fight Victor Ortiz on September 17th for the WBC World Championship.

Mayweather has been absent from boxing for 16-month, since defeating Shane Mosley in May of 2010.

Details and location of the Mayweather vs. Ortiz fight were not released, but MGM Grand in Las Vegas is believed to be the frontrunner to host the bout.

Mayweather's fight in September will finally bring boxing fans a step closer to the fight everyone has been waiting to see: Mayweather vs. Pacquiao.

"That's good," WBO Welterweight World Champion Manny Pacquiao told Manilla Bulletin upon hearing of Mayweather's upcoming fight. "Ortiz is a southpaw like me so I think Mayweather is preparing (for a fight against me)."

"If he gets past Ortiz (then we can fight)," Pacquiao said.

In his forthcoming autobiography, former professional boxer Sugar Ray Leonard makes a few unexpected accusations.

In the book entitled “The Big Fight: My Life In and Out of the Ring,” the ex-fighter reveals darker moments in his life, from cocaine use to growing up in a household with domestic violence and alcohol abuse to surviving a car wreck.

Still, the most shocking account in the book is when Leonard reveals that he was sexually abused as a young fighter by a unnamed “prominent Olympic boxing coach.”

According to reports by the New York Times:

Leonard writes that when the coach accompanied him as a 15-year-old and another young fighter to a boxing event in Utica, N.Y., in 1971, he had the teenagers take a bath in a tub of hot water and Epsom salts while he sat on the other side of the bathroom. They suspected “something a bit inappropriate” was occurring but did not want to question a strong male authority figure.

Several years later, Leonard describes sitting in a car in a deserted parking lot across from a recreation center, listening intently as the same coach, said to be in his late 40s, explained how much a gold medal at the 1976 Olympics would mean to his future.

He was flattered, filled with hope, as any young athlete would be. But he writes: “Before I knew it, he had unzipped my pants and put his hand, then mouth, on an area that has haunted me for life. I didn't scream. I didn't look at him. I just opened the door and ran.”

He adds that when he first decided to discuss the incident in the book, which is co-authored with Michael Arkush, he offered a version in which the abuser stopped before there was actual contact.

“That was painful enough,” Leonard writes. “But last year, after watching the actor Todd Bridges bare his soul on Oprah's show about how he was sexually abused as a kid, I realized I would never be free unless I revealed the whole truth, no matter how much it hurt.”

Sugar Ray Leonard's book comes out on June 6th, and it will be interesting to read whatever the boxing Hall of Famer has written in his autobiography.

Rick Ross is ready to put his Maybach money where his mouth is.

After meeting world boxing champ Manny Pacquiao, the Bawse claimed he'll bet a million dollars on Pacquiao's next fight.

"You know Pacquiao's next fight, the Boss will be there, we're gonna be ringside," Ross said. "We'll be at the fight, I'm gonna put a mill on it."

Pacquiao's next fight happens to be tonight (May 7th), as the WBC Super Welterweight World Champion is scheduled to fight Sugar Shane Mosley tonight in Las Vegas.

Rozay's admiration for Pacquiao doesn't end with a small wager, as it was previously reported that Ross will walk out Pacquiao in tonight's fight.

In addition, Ross has already recorded a song title after Pacquiao's nickname, "Pacman," that will appear on the Maybach Music Group CEO's Self Made compilation album.

This isn't the first time Ricky Rozay has talked big money, earlier this year, reports claimed Ross and his guests spent a million dollars at Miami gentlemen's club King of Diamonds.

Although, KOD's Blac Chyna later shut down all those claims.

Someone will have to check the books later tonight to see if Ross actually stays true to his word.

Mayweather Explodes on Security Guard -- On Tape

Floyd Mayweather Jr. may not want to fight Manny Pacquiao, but he is trying to fight security guards.

According to TMZ, On December 19, Mayweather got into another altercation with a security guard for allegedly not knowing who the Welterweight champion was during an ID stop at his residence.

In a video obtained by TMZ, you see Mayweather fuming as the security guard asks to see his ID to allow him to enter into the exclusive gated community.

“I don't have ID,” Maweather said. “"Let me in my mother f**king house!!! You know who I am man ... let me in my house!!!"

Floyd, who is facing charges against another security guard at his home, brought up the pending case during this routine stop claiming that he is being harassed by security.

"I had a problem here before when the security lied and said I touched him and I didn't!"

After over a minute of tantrum throwing, Floyd eventually got out of the car, went into the guard shack and opened the gate himself.
Wow, now if he could just take this into the ring with Pacquiao, we could finally get the fight we've been waiting for.

According to reports, the two fighters are all but signed to meet May 7, 2011 in Las Vegas.

Manny's promoter said Tuesday that the fight is a done deal.

"Shane has agreed to everything and now we're circulating the paperwork for final signatures, the drafts have been sent to his lawyer," says promoter Bob Arum. "Whether it gets signed tomorrow or the next day, it's done."

Pacquiao, 32, is coming off winning his record eighth title in November with a unanimous decision over Antonio Margarito at Cowboys Stadium in Texas.

In May, Mosley, 37, lost a lopsided unanimous decision to Floyd Mayweather Jr. Four months later, Mosley was humbled in a draw against junior-middleweight Sergio Mora.

Mosley also confirmed that his purse stands to be around $5 million against Pac Man. But with incentives, Mosley could wind up earning a career-high amount, surpassing the previous career-best of $7 million that he earned after his unanimous decision loss to Floyd Mayweather.

As recently reported, Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been arrested in Las Vegas just hours after a judge officially signed a bench warrant for his arrest.

Mayweather became wanted by police on Thursday (December 16) due to a criminal battery charge that was filed against him for an alleged dispute he had with a security guard in a parking lot back in November.

The heavily anticipated bout between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather has been cancelled, according to Top Rank promoter Bob Arum, responsible for promotion for Pacquiao, who stated Wednesday night that the fight was off.

Scheduled to take place on March 13 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, the tension that continued to bubble between Top Rank and Golden Boy, which represents Mayweather, over protocol for a drug test was never mediated and resulted in the showdown being called off.

Although Pacquiao had come to terms with blood testing 30 days before the fight, Mayweather wouldn't budge from wanting random drug tests being administered until the match.  Mayweather also made statements about his opponent with accusations of him using performance-enhancing drugs which he was unwilling to retract or apologize for, according to Arum.

“I am very disappointed that we could not make this fight for the fans and I am angered because of the false accusations from Golden Boy and the Mayweather camp that I used some type of drugs, and that is why I have instructed our American lawyers to proceed with the lawsuit to clear my name,” said Pacquiao.

As the bout was set to be broadcaster on HBO PPV, Arum informed HBO PPV boss Mark Taffet that the fight was now off.  Had the fight gone without a hitch, it had the potential to break the PPV record of 2.44 million buys which was set by Mayweather in his fight with Oscar De La Hoya back in 2007.

Financially, the showdown was expected to generate around $200 million with each fighter raking in around $40 million each.

Preparations have already been made for the next move as Pacquiao will most likely fight junior middleweight titlist Yuri Foreman on March 13 or March 20.

“Manny accepted what was on the table and Mayweather rejected it,” said Arum. “Haymon and Schaefer tried to convince Floyd all [Tuesday night] and [Wednesday] and he wouldn't agree to it.  He didn't want the fight.  He never wanted the fight.  I always knew the fight wouldn't happen.”
