C-Murder Denied Appeal Of Life Sentence

Master P's younger brother C-Murder was denied an appeal of the life sentence he's serving for 2nd Degree Murder. Murder, born Corey Miller, was found guilty of shooting 16-year-old Steve Thomas on Jan. 12, 2002, at a now-closed nightclub in Harvey, Louisiana.

Miller, 38, was initially found guilty after a 2003 trial but was ordered a stand trial again by the presiding judge who ruled that prosecutors withheld pertinent background information on three of the defense's witnesses. The Supreme Court then upheld the request, which left the case open for a new trial. C-Murder was then convicted in August of 2009, and sentenced to life without parole. On the grounds of not being given a fair trial, Miller requested an appeal, which was heard by a three judge panel at the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals.

C-Murder's Lawyers In Court Fighting For New Appeal

Corey Miller, professionally known as C-Murder never wanted his rap moniker to be taken so serious that it would result in him spending life in prison.

But the No Limit soldier is serving time behind bars for the murder of Steven Thomas, a 16-year-old who had an alleged altercation with Miller at the nightclub Platinum in 2002.

After being convicted of the murder the first time, Miller was released in 2003 on $500,000 bail when it was revealed that some of the witnesses had their criminal records thrown out to increase their credibility.

In 2009, the prosecutors got their chance to appeal the case and the younger brother of Master P was convicted again although a juror said she was pressed by other jurors to vote for a conviction.

Unfortunately for the artist once known as C-Murder, he spent all his bread on legal fees, but his new attorneys are working for no money to get the case overturned again.

The team of Harvard and New Orleans attorneys stated that there is no physical evidence linking Miller to the crime and they are hoping for another appeal.

We wish the best for Corey and his family. Rap kids out there, choose your name wisely.

Master P Impostor

Hip-Hop mogul Master P. and Tennessee State officials are investigating a woman they claim is using Master P and his brother C Murder's name to scam people out of charity donations.

According to News Action 5 in Tennessee, Master P is more than outraged over the use of his name and likeness by Alisha Harris, a woman that the state claims is using the rapper's name to put money in her own pockets.

"This is crazy, “Master P. said in the interview,”She needs to be stopped."

According to investigative reports, Harris, who lives in a boarding house in Memphis, is operating a series of websites claiming to be affiliated with both Master P. and Corey Miller, who is currently appealing a life sentence for allegedly murdering a 16-year-old in 2002.

Masster P, whose real name is Percy Miller, is more than upset about the use of his brother Corey "C-Murder" Miller's name to promote the Corey Miller Food Foundation; which the rapper states he and his family have no affiliation with.

But it's not just Master P who has had his name used without consent, reports state that every affiliate listed on the woman's website is not partnered with her nor have they ever worked with her.

According to the woman's website, the Corey Miller Food Foundation raises money for under privileged children and needy families, by hiring welfare recipients and ex-felons to solicit potential contributors; another selling point that Harris uses to give her foundation credibility.

The websites also list a number of official state organizations that are allegedly in partnership with Harris, who claims that she hires ex-felons and welfare recipients at $10 an hour.

In the Action News 5 investigation, tax records revealed that Harris doesn't have a license to solicit in the state, although her 2009 tax returns list an income of more than $150,000 from charitable donations.

Master P., who is concerned that the bogus operation will tarnish his reputation, made it very clear that he is no way affiliated with Harris, or has even met her.

"I have never met her," Master P continued. "Don't know who she is….just to have somebody use your name and don't even know you, it's not even fair.”

Two judges who presided over New Orleans rapper C-Murder's trial for the 2002 murder of 16-year-old Steve Thomas, are now under investigation.

According to published reports, Judge Martha Sassone and Judge Ellen Kovach are being investigated by a secret panel after the office received a credible complaint against one of the judges who presided over the controversial case.

Although Sassone was the convicting judge in the case, Kovach is being investigated for her alleged ties to the rapper and for her use of the ruling in the case to gain political favor.

Sassone was running for re-election to the 24th Judicial District Court against Ellen Kovach, when Kovach attacked Sassone's rulings in regards to the C-Murder case in her campaign advertisements during her bid to be re-elected in 2008.

Although Kovach won, an ethics committee ruled that her campaign crossed ethical lines for using the C-Murder case as propaganda to be elected.

In 2003, C-Murder was convicted of shooting and killing 16-year-old Steve Thomas during a dispute at a nightclub.

The decision was overturned by the Louisiana Supreme Court, when it was learned the prosecutors expunged the criminal backgrounds of various witnesses in an attempt to strengthen their credibility on the stand.

At the re-trial in 2009, C-Murder was again convicted of the shooting, but controversy broke out when juror Mary Jacob claimed that she voted to convict the rapper after being pressed by a fellow juror.

“After she just kept harassing me, I decided, the judge don't want to listen to me, doesn't want to listen to us? I told them, 'You want him to be guilty? He's guilty, now let's get the hell out of here,” Jacob said.

C-Murder, who is serving a mandatory life sentence, is currently planning an appeal of the latest ruling on the grounds that the juror in question was forced to convict him and that Kovach's advertisements also prevented him from receiving a fair trial.

Them dudes in trouble! You don't want to plug me in the Matrix. A n*gga like me in the Matrix? Man, come on, a n*gga can't Fawk with me, for real!”

Since Mystikal's January release from jail, the former No Limit Soldier has been making his rounds delving back into the rap game.
As previously reported, Mystikal, real name Michael Tyler, served a six year sentence for sexual battery and extortion.

Now he's reflecting on his time behind bars and says that he grew in prison.

He tells Complex that he left Mystikal behind and let Michael Tyler serve the time allowing him to become stronger and wiser.

“It was nothing that I had to try to do. Because Michael Tyler was in there. I left Mystikal at the gate because he was gonna be a distraction and create problems for me there, and I allowed Michael Tyler to do that time. I played him down as much as I could and by doing that, I had the opportunity to really grow in there and wise up…”

He also tells Complex that when he was released he was shocked at how much technology had changed. Instead of being mailed beats, he was receiving them through his email and got “plugged into the Matrix.”

“A lot of things have changed with this technology. When I came home, dudes were trying to get beats to me. I'm like, “Here's my address, Fed Ex it to me,” and they like, “I'm gonna email it to you.” I'm like, “N*gga, what?!! For real?” It's crazy. And by being a viral situation, you can press a button and get to so many people man. Them dudes in trouble! You don't want to plug me in the Matrix. A n*gga like me in the Matrix? Man, come on, a n*gga can't Fawk with me, for real.”

Mystikal also confirmed that he'd be appearing at VH1's Hip-Hop Honors alongside Master P to perform “It Ain't My Fault” and challenged rappers to step their game up.

“I was retarded before I left. These n*ggas outta here! They have no idea. The first time I came home and said “Here I Go!” on the radio, all I heard was the pitter-patter of rappers running. Where the Fawk they going?.... A lot of these dudes had a lot of success 'cause they ain't have no competition. We about to see how bad you're a**is. If muthaFawkas still say you cold after I release this album, you a bad muthaFawka.”

It seems that Master P has some issues with his young homey Lil Wayne. As previously reported, The Young Money leader expressed his opinion that he thought his home town New Orleans Saints would lose to Brent Favre and the Minnesota Vikings. Obviously that wasn't the case last week as fumbles and turnovers proved to be their downfall.

Well P has allegedly written a blog expressing his thoughts and his disappointment in Wayne's choice. Taking Wayne's pick a lil' too seriously, P sounds as if the fate of N.O. weighed on Birdman Jr.'s pick.

I mean really, it's only a game. Not like their win is gonna bring proceeds to fix up the Black neighborhoods since Hurricane Katrina although The French Quarters and Bourbon Street look like they were never touched. Read Percy Miller's disappointment below:

“As a young child growing up in New Orleans, I always wanted to see the Saints go to the Super Bowl,” said P. “I've always worn black and gold colors as No Limit Jerseys and always represented for the New Orleans Saints by wearing their caps and jerseys. The comment Lil Wayne made about New Orleans Saints losing to the Minnesota Vikings, made no sense to me as a New Orleans native. This is our hope as a city after surviving Hurricane Katrina. This team should bring us together as people. I understand that he has the right to have his own opinion and comment or even root for another team if he wants to.

It's just disappointing to hear this coming from a brother who was born and raised in New Orleans, made money off his music representing the city of New Orleans, talking about it in his lyrics. I'm from Uptown New Orleans and I don't care who the Saints play against, how good the opposing team is, nor what the odds are against them. I would never go against my team, the New Orleans Saints, or root for an opposing team playing against them. We've been waiting to get to the Super Bowl for 40 years and if we do, we will celebrate in Second Line.

I guess we won't be hearing any Superbowl songs from Lil Wayne unless the Vikings win. This is sad for the fans in the city of New Orleans because they really thought Lil Wayne was down. Most entertainers and athletes don't realize that once you're in the spotlight, you need to think about some of the things that you say because it will follow you throughout your career, good or bad.”

Now P, we agree with the last part of your statement about entertainers and athletes not realizing what they say at times can come back to haunt them but this clearly ain't the case.

“A lot of things have changed, but they about to change again.”

Martin Lawrence Tyler, best known to the public as rapper Mystikal, saw January 15, 2010 as the day of his release after serving six years in the Louisiana State Prison for sexual battery.

Now free from incarceration, the rapper is making his rounds and hoping to jump right back into Hip Hop to pick up his career from where he left it before his prison sentence.

Catching up with DJ Whoo Kid and RadioPlanetTV, the New Orleans native spoke on being behind the cell and how things started off initially with him constantly battling to hold on to his identity.

“It felt like everything I did prior going to that place, it felt like a dream I was going to. It was like ‘Man, am I really Mystikal? HERE I GO, yea…that's me.' I had to do that kind of stuff just to remind myself.”

He also reflected on his case and stated that the outcome might have been a little different had he been given a second chance at court.

“I don't know what the hell happened. Sometimes I sit back and think if I would have went another route with it and really tried to take that Shyte to court and fight it. I think what I was trying to do strategically was just try to keep it to a level where it couldn't get out of hand cause I could have been sitting there innocent, and just sitting there innocent for 6 years into doing what the fu&% C-Murder doing.”

Mystikal, once with Master P and No Limit added his opinion on the case of Master P and gave an update on his fellow soldier as he is currently dealing with his bid.

“We gon try and if we can work on that too, I can't see him sitting there like that, that ain't gonna work man. He's still got a little breathing room, he still got a little fight left in him. It ain't over with yet.”

Now without the braids, a little more bulky and a Twitter account that he's not even too sure of how to access, the rapper is back and ready to bring that raw energy that only he would be known for.

And no, he has yet to catch up with Master P since getting out, but plans to do so sooner than later.
