Congratulations are in order to the legendary Big Daddy Kane and his wife Shawnette who got married this Saturday in North Carolina.

D-Nice who was in attendance at the ceremony, Tweeted,

“It was a beautiful ceremony.  It was an honor to attend his wedding. We have so much history. During the time when my crew (BDP) & his crew (The Juice Crew) were beefing, Kane & I were friends. I was even his hypeman at an Apollo show.”

KRS-One has put out the statement:

“I am participating in the Bowery Mission Thanksgiving Food Drive and Event because I myself was once homeless, walking these very streets, spending time with these wonderful people at the Bowery Mission.”

KRS would continue to say:

“I depended on them to survive. I am showing up for Thanksgiving this year to not only lend a hand, but hope that I may inspire others in the Hip-Hop community to consider their roles towards helping the homeless and join me by helping those in your community that need help during this holiday season.”

KRS-One will also help the organization offer doctor's appointments, drug recovery and job assistance programs.  The Bowery Mission has served some of New York's homeless families since 1879 and is open 7 days a week and 365 days a year.

Although KRS-One may be big now, it's good to see he hasn't forgotten where he came from, and is sending the right message not just through his words but through his actions.

Continuing his teachings on the culture of Hip-Hop, KRS and Buckshot also dropped the banging Survival Skills this past September.  The album features the hit single “Robot” as well as collaborations with Talib Kweli, Immortal Technique, K'Naan and Mary J. Blige.

The summer might be over, but that doesn't mean the party has to stop. Catch a full day of creativity in music, food, and more when Heineken Inspire comes to DC this Saturday, October 30th.

The all day event will feature special performances by : D Nice, The Clipse, Rick Ross, and Wale.

In addition to the performances, fans 21 and older will have access to unique on-site experiences including the opportunity to silk screen their own souvenir t-shirt, a gaming area where they can test their skills on DJ Hero and a tasting area where they can grab an ice cold Heineken, Heineken Light or Heineken Dark.
