Contrary to Twitter rumor, Suge Knight has not been arrested for Tupac Shakur's murder.

The annual Suge killed Pac chatter recently ramped up no doubt thanks to VH1's latest Behind The Music documentary on the Notorious B.I.G., where former LAPD detective Greg Kading alleges that it was the Death Row co-founder that had the Brooklyn rapper killed. When Suge is in the news, it's only a matter of time before Pac's name comes up since he's long been rumored to be behind the "California Love" rapper's death. However, the talk of Knight being arrested for Pac's 1996 murder was just rumor.

"I don't have any information that Suge Knight has been arrested," Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department spokeswoman Laura Meltzer told E! Online. "We picked him up on some traffic warrants back in February and that is the last arrest I show for him."

Recently, Knight did threaten to "beat the dog sh-t" out of Rick Ross, though.

Tupac's Greatest Hits album from 1998 returned to the Billboard 200 for the first time since 2000, landing at No. 129 with 4,000 copies sold according to Nielsen SoundScan (a gain of a staggering 571% over the previous week). Pac's also saw gains on All Eyez On Me (2,000; up 95%) and Me Against the World (1,000; up 53%).

After performing "Hail Mary," and "2 Of Amerikaz Most Wanted" at the Coachella festival, the singles moved 13,000 downloads last week for a 1,530% sales increase and 9,000 downloads for a 881% increase, respectively.

When we said that Tupac's hologram had the biggest buzz of any rapper since the performance, we weren't kidding.

Suge Knight didn't waste time starting as much controversy as possible during his interview with L.A. radio station, 93.5 KDay Friday (April 20). Aside from re-opening speculation into whether or not Tupac is still alive, the former Death Row Records head fired more than a few verbal shots at Rick Ross, over the track "Tupac Back."

Knight, threatened to "beat the dog s--t" out of Ross if given the opportunity blasting the Maybach Music frontman for his affiliation with Diddy-- who, he believes is to blame for Tupac's 1996 death. Despite not knowing Ross personally, Knight launched into a full-fledged attack, calling the rapper out on just about everything. "This a guy who uses somebody else's name," he said, referencing the Miami MC's namesake, Freeway Rick Ross. "This is a guy who comes from being a corrections officer. I don't have nothing negative about him personally, I just feel that he do good music, and you can't take that from him. That boy got bars, he writes, it might be somebody else's story [he's] writing, but at least he's writing. But at the same time, I think it's a line you cross and Rick Ross crossed that line. If you're gonna be with the guy [Diddy] who promotes he killed Tupac, you can't go turn around and do a record saying 'Tupac Back.' Rick Ross is a grown a$$ n--a. I'll beat the dog s--t out of Rick Ross because I feel it's wrong to manipulate these people out here."

Ross has yet to respond, but this isn't the first time he's found himself the target of beef. His infamous rift with 50 Cent ended in 2010, when Ross decided that he'd had enough of going back and forth with the G-unit head honcho.

Back in the day, Knight had a reputation for handing out fades, but being that he already caught a vicious two-piece while partying in 2008, then again in 2009, he might not want it with Ross.

On Friday, March 16th, Steve Stoute interviewed Nas at SXSW Music and Media conference at the Austin Convention Center. In one portion of the sit down, Nas talks about stepping to Tupac in NYC's Central Park—after the 1996 MTV Video Music Awards—and their doomed plans to meet up again in Las Vegas to really settle their differences.

"What [Tupac] said to me was, 'Me and you are brothers. Me and you are never supposed to go at it. But I heard you was dissing me on mixtapes'," recounted Nas. "I'm like, 'I heard you was dissing me on this new Makaveli album.' You were there, you know how none of us could be sitting here, me and you right now because it was a very dangerous situation right there and greater heads prevailed. We both knew we were supposed to continue that conversation and probably just squash the whole thing. I was scheduled to meet him in Vegas; you and Jimmy Iovine called me at 4AM and told me he might not make it."

Their have been a bunch of versions of the story Nas described, with Snoop Dogg saying that the Queens MC got punked, although he gives Nas credit for not letting his goons loose. However, the Outlawz say Pac and Nas basically squashed their beef, which stemmed from a line in "The Message" from It Was Written.

In the second video, Nas discusses his ghostwriting for Will Smith's Big Willie Style album but it's more about Nas and Stoute, the rapper's former manager, discussing how at times they weren't on the same page as far the former taking advantage of opportunities.

Legendary producer and entrepreneur Dr. Dre celebrates a birthday today. Born Andre Romelle Young in the Los Angeles County of Compton in 1965, Dre's early forays into music led him to join the old school Hip-Hop troupe World Class Wreckin' Cru alongside DJ Yella. Formed in the early 80's and influenced by the rapidly changing rap scene emerging from the east, the crew had a short run before Dre met Eazy-E and a teenaged Ice Cube.

The late 80's spawned the birth of Dre's seminal group N.W.A, with MC Ren joining Eazy E and Ice Cube along with Yella assuming DJ duties. Their debut, Straight Outta Compton, exploded onto the scene and became a success despite a lack of commercial and radio support. With Eazy-E's Ruthless Records becoming a powerhouse in the industry by way of N.W.A's high sales, Dre went on to produce for other acts on the label such as the D.O.C. and Above The Law.

His debut solo album, The Chronic, still remains as one of the most influential releases of all time. It also marked the beginning of the relationship between Dre and Long Beach rapper Snoop Dogg (their first song was "Deep Cover" from the Deep Cover soundtrack). The West Coast G-Funk sound was mimicked by many afterwards, cementing Dre's place amongst the greatest producers ever. During his time on Death Row, Dre also helmed the production of Snoop Dogg's debut Doggystyleas well.

Leaving Death Row in 1995, Dre formed his own label Aftermath, releasing the compilation Dr. Dre Presents The Aftermath in 1996. In 1998, Interscope head Jimmy Iovine suggested to Dre that he sign a rising white rapper out of Michigan. Eminem's debut, The Slim Shady LP, was Aftermath's biggest smash to date and once again affirmed Dr. Dre as part of the cultural landscape.

Dre's second solo album, The Chronic 2001 (actually released in 1999) was one of the most anticipated records of the time. With Snoop returning along with rappers Xzibit, Devin The Dude and Tha Dogg Pound featured heavily on the album, 2001 was another hit and went on to sell over six million copies.

Blige, Eve, Gwen Stefani and he continued to work with Eminem as well. 2003 ushered in a new level of success for Aftermath after a joint collaboration between Dre's label, Em's Shady Records and Interscope helped propel the release of 50 Cent's Get Rich Or Die Tryin'which catapulted the Queens rapper to stardom. Dre produced the album's lead single “In Da Club” as well other songs on the debut.

Although fans have been waiting on Dre's final opus Detox for well over a decade, Dre has since taken a well-deserved leave from music. He has shifted his focus on his successful Beats By Dre audio line and enjoyed the trappings of his fame with his family. While the details behind the delay didn't satisfy salivating for Detox, Dr. Dre should be saluted for not only his influence, but also his longevity. Dre's contributions to music are invaluable and if he never returns to making tunes, he has left behind an impressive body of work.

Happy Birthday, Dr. Dre!

Suge Knight, once the most feared executive in Hip-Hop, got pinched for a weed charge in Las Vegas. Yesterday (February 8th) Suge was pulled over by cops for making an unsafe lane change in his Bentley, TMZ reports.

When the authorities ran his name, multiple warrants for his arrest popped in their system. To make matters worse, turns on the former Death Row honcho allegedly was in the possession of a small amount of marijuana.

Suge was arrested and released shortly thereafter, but the kicker is that he is still on probation. Hope he hires a good lawyer or else Suge can be heading back to the bing.

Suge Knight Gets Probation For Driving On Suspended License

According TMZ, former CEO of Death Row Records Suge Knight has been sentenced to three years of probation for driving on a suspended license.

From TMZ:

As TMZ first reported, Suge's badass black truck was impounded back in February -- after cops cited Knight for driving on a bum license.

Suge pled no contest to the charge -- and was given three years unsupervised probation.

It's the second time the guy's been nailed for driving on a suspended license -- let's hope he learns his lesson.

We'll take a guess and predict the next story we write about Suge will have a headline that reads, "Suge Knight Headed To Prison After Violating Probation."

Cory Maye To Be Released From Prison

Cory Maye, a Mississippi man once sentenced to death for killing a police officer, will go free after pleading to manslaughter 10 years after the polarizing 2001 shooting death.

tMaye, 30, was charged with capitol murder in the death of white police officer Ron Jones, Jr.

Maye shot and killed Jones after a group of officers, including Jones, mistakenly burst into his home.

The officers were acting on a tip from a reportedly racist drug abuser that someone was selling drugs out of a nearby apartment and police officers kicked in the wrong door.

Maye fired three shots at the officers, later testifying that he thought they were robbers and after realizing he shot a cop, immediately surrendered to police.

The officer he killed was the son of Prentiss Police Chief Ron Jones, Sr.an Rarcial tensions were high.

Maye was charged with the intentional killing of Jones Jr.

Following lengthy delays, Mayes' trail started in 2004. In the fall of 2007, Judge Michael Eubanks threw out Maye's death sentence, citing that he had received inadequate defense.

In November 2007 the Mississippi State Court of Appeals granted Maye a new trial. The following year, the Mississippi State Supreme Court upheld the order for the new trial.

After serving 10 years in prison Maye will soon be a free man due to time already served.

Kanye West's weekly "G.O.O.D Friday" releases got some heavy media attention last year as fans awaited My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

But hip-hop fans know that Kanye wasn't the first artist to put out music every seven days; Slaughterhouse member, Crooked I started doing weekly freestyles back in 2007 and kept it going for a year. Forbes DVD spoke with the Cali spitter about his contribution to the trend and not being fully recognized for initiating it.

“I mean, I think I definitely created a different business model for rappers to promote themselves online. It's cool to set a trend. Sometimes you don't get your full props or accolades, but niggas who know, know,” said Crooked I.

The former Death Row artist also spoke on his recent signing to Shady and the haters that tried to "kick him when he was down." He mentioned those who popped up feigning friendship after inking with Eminem's imprint. "I got a bunch of new family members but it's cool."

Peep the interview.
