With albums sales going down and headphones sales skyrocketing, do you think Dr. Dre is in any rush to release Detox? Of course not, so why not produce a horror movie? According to Variety, Dr. Dre will produce a movie entitled Thaw with Crucial Films partner Daniel Schnider, who originated the idea.

Dr. Dre also handpicked Vik Weet to create the movie. Weet penned the script for another untitled thriller about an investitgation into the 1959 Dyatlov Pass incident, in which nine experienced hikers were found dead in Russia's Ural Mountains. Renny Harlin is directing that film.

With another very engaged project on his hands, keep sliding Detox way, way, back into your priority list.

In an interview with HLN, Eminem describes why he never admitted to having a drug problem until now.

“In Hip-Hop you don't want to come across as weak and to me the addiction was a weakness,” Eminem said. “But in order for me to overcome it, I had to admit that I had a weakness.”

When asked about the severity of his drug addiction, the Detroit bred emcee admits that it was very severe.

“Not to make this moment intense, but I almost died,” Em continued. “I was a couple of hours away from death, I overdosed and almost died.”

“The new song Dre has in his pocket, it's called Under Pressure. It's a new song by Dr. Dre and Jay-Z…”

The head of Interscope records is confirming what's been speculated for a little over a week now, that a legendary musical collaboration was made featuring Dr. Dre and Jay-Z.

As previously reported, rumors were swirling that the two collaborated for a new single after a series of tweets from Michael Yo of Y100 Miami and a picture surfaced of Dre and Jay in the studio.

While there was no confirmation then, Dre's “Beats By Dre” partner and head of his longtime label home cleared up the rumors himself.

In an interview with NESN's Game Day Live, Iovine and Dre were promoting their Beats By Dre headphones at the Boston Red Sox's batting practice.

When Jimmy was asked by the interviewer what song he'd like to her before a game, he proudly replied:

“The new song Dre has in his pocket, it's called Under Pressure. It's a new song by Dr. Dre and Jay-Z. That's the song I would use.”

When asked the same question, Dre agreed saying,

“Me too. Under Pressure, it's so fitting….”

No word on when the single will be released but be on the lookout for it on the net soon.

Check out the footage from NESN below.

Someone file this under #EPIC.
Thanks.

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson will be flooding local retail stores as his latest film, Streets of Blood, is set to hit shelves tomorrow. Aside from the rapper, the film stars the likes of Val Kilmer and Sharon Stone and the R-rated film is directed by Charles Winkler.

Originally slated to hit the box office and be shown in theatres, it was reported that the movie studio Anchor Bay bought the film distribution rights to the movie. Anchor Bay is known to distribute movies straight to video or DVD in this case.

The premise of Streets Of Blood surrounds around the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and the disaster that it has left since hitting New Orleans, Louisiana. Crime has reached an all time high in the city and corruption has dropped to a new set of lows. Since the city was hit, it seems as though it has now become the survival of the fittest and people have been forced to sink or swim by any means.

As violence continues to erupt, the task is placed in front of Jackson and Kilmer's characters, as cops, to aid in cleaning up the streets of the filth that inhabits it. In a lawless city these two must find a way to maintain order as criminals try to set their own rules to live by. As corruption is nothing new to the police force, their integrity comes into question as well due to Kilmer's characters violent history. Along with his past, Jackson's character also has a dark secret of his own. As the police psychiatrist, Stone worries that the two may have been morally compromised as they are forced to deal with the chaos that New Orleans has become.

This film will be another mark in the movie career of Jackson. Along with this film, he will be starring in the upcoming horror-flick Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde alongside Forest Whitaker as the main characters, and will also appear on an episode of HBO's Entourage this season.

As it pertains to music, Jackson, fortunately, is still set to release his long-awaited Before I Self Destruct. It's been a few days and there's been no word of a pushback, so maybe just maybe it'll actually be coming at the end of September.

The “R” is ready to make his entrance back into the game and preparing to drop a new album, The Seventh Seal, this fall. Scheduled to drop the first single “Holy Are You” on July 28th, Rakim's new album will be released on his own label Ra Records in a joint venture with Tuscan Villa Entertainment and distributed by Fontana/Universal.
In an interview with Billboard, Rakim explained the concept behind his latest album stating that it will be filled with “consciousness and spirituality”:

“The seals are from the Bible- Revelations and the coming of the Apocalypse. But Islam, Judaism, Christianity: all have a version of the same events. The Lion of Judah breaks the seven seals one by one, each imparting knowledge and inflicting catastrophe, ending with seven trumpets announcing the end of Times. After the Apocalypse, God rises from the ashes to recreate the Kingdom, taking only the greatest elements from the past with them.

When you look at Hip-Hop, I want to do that: to spit fire and take our best from the ashes to build our kingdom; to recognize all the regional styles, conscious lyrics, the tracks, underground, mainstream, the way we treat each other. Lose the garbage and rebuild our scene. I've always tried to insert consciousness and spirituality in my records, interpreting the writings of all cultures and religions and how they apply to life in modern times.”

Rakim's last official album The Master was released in 1999 and after that he signed with Dr. Dre's After Math Records in 2001. The highly anticipated album never materialized as Rakim left the label over creative differences. The Seventh Seal won't contain any long last Dr. Dre productions although “The God” said don't rule out any future collaborations with the famed Chronic producer and MC.
