eLZhi Has Officially Announced Departure From Slum Village

Apparently, Slum Village will no longer be a group.

The manager of eLZhi has officially announced his departure from the group.

Villa Manifesto, the groups upcoming album will be their last.

On Tuesday eLZhi released a statement form his twitter saying,

“Not sure what's going on…I hope Slum Village's label and T3's manager respect what I do for SV. Either way I appreciate y'all support.”

Hex Murda, eLZhi'a manager, has since issued the following statement to XXLMag.com:

“For all intents and purposes concerning eLZhi, Slum Village is defunct. This is the last SV LP. We look forward to bringing you eLZhi's solo project, The Feed.

In a day that shows make money for artists instead of album sales, eLZhi and T3 better pray that their album sells well.

Villa Manifesto is scheduled to drop in July 2010. Go out and support SV because from the looks of it, they will need it!

Chali 2na will be headlining the 14-date “The Deadliest Catch Tour” in support of his solo debut album Fish Outta Water, in stores now on Decon Records. Joining Chali 2na on the tour will be fellow MC's Gift Of Gab, Mr. Lif and Lyrics Born, making this a must-see event for lovers of fine Hip-Hop.

Fish Outta Water is a deeply personal body of work that reveals a side of Chali 2na that his fans have never seen. A story from start to finish of his life, loves, triumphs and let-downs.

Featuring guest appearances from Damian “Jr. Gong” and Stephen Marley, Talib Kweli, Anthony Hamilton, Beenie Man, Elzhi and more, Fish Outta Water also includes production from Scott Storch, Jake One, DJ Babu and DJ Nu-mark.

R.I.P.: Slum Village Member Baatin Passes

According to reports, Slum Village member Baatin has died. No official information regarding the cause of death has been released as of yet but many of his fellow MCs and musicians have been sending their condolences via the Internet.

The passing Of Baatin comes right as he had recently reunited with remaining group members Elzhi and T3 and were gearing to release their new album, Villa Manifesto on September 22nd. They had recently released the single “Cloud 9” with former Floetry member Marsha Ambrosius.

Baatin is the second member of the group to have passed away as former member J-Dilla died in 2006 after suffering from the rare blood diseases Lupus and TTP (Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpra).

Baatin, born Titus Glover in 1974, was previously diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and depression, which caused him to take a break from Slum Village and music.

Talib Kweli spoke of Baatin's passing on Twitter stating, "I'm at a loss right now. Hi-Tek was set to dj for Slum Village tonight. RIP Baatin. More influential than you can imagine. Slum Village forever."
