Big Sean - "Two Can Win" (J Dilla Tribute) [Listen/Download]

After speaking on the life and legacy of Detroit producer James "J Dilla" Yancey, Big Sean has decided to dedicate a song to the beatsmith with "Two Can Win." The instrumental comes from Dilla's Donuts album, which was released just three days before his untimely death. The G.O.O.D. Music MC tweeted, "In honor of J Dilla being one of the most influential producers of all time, I decided to lay a verse to one of my favorite tracks off of J Dilla's "Donuts". Being from Detroit I feel I have a responsibility to honor his legacy n continue it in my own way."

Big Sean spoke on the late James "J Dilla" Yancey and the upcoming "Dilla Day" in his native Detroit. The G.O.O.D. Music MC spoke about carrying on Dilla's legacy and the huge impact he's made within various genres of music. Sean also expressed his admiration for the Detroit beatsmith, calling him a "Hometown Hero."

The late producer will be celebrated on Feb. 10th at The Fillmore, in Detroit, which is schedule to feature Busta Rhymes, Danny Brown, Jay Electronica, and more.

Common Teams Up With NBA Star Monta Ellis For Youth B-Ball Camp [Video]

Common continues to stay busy as we find the Chi-Town MC in Oakland, California aiding a YMCA Youth Basketball Camp. Common is no stranger to the hardwood, having played a New Jersey Nets point guard named "Scott McKnight" in the 2010 romantic comedy Just Wright.

Although Common acted as the star b-baller in the film, he found himself as the backup in this particular community service effort, as Golden State Warriors shooting guard Monta Ellis was alongside the rapper as he led the kids in drills, signed autographs, and even passed out copies of his new album, The Dreamer/The Believer.

Whether he's performing at Sundance in Utah, both live and on film, or hosting events and meeting fans in Atlanta, Common has been in grind mode. With his latest film premiering at this year's film festival, and his contributions to the G.O.O.D. Music Album, 2012 isn't showing any signs of the Chi-Town spitter, slowing down at all.

In part 2 of Al Lindstrom's "#DefJamBack" sit down with Shawn "Pecas" Costner, we get a little insight on how he achieved his position and the importance of building relationships in the industry. One of the relationships that he made at a young age was with L.A. Reid, during their employment at Arista Records. Pecas talked about coming up under L.A. and gives some advice to all those with music industry aspirations.

"Always consistently maintain yourself and be the same person," said Pecas. "Don't try to change or adjust your personality...don't try and be something that you're not, always stay who you are, and always be honest with people. I believe in karma, and good things will come to you, as you give good things to others."

In addition to these helpful hints, Pecas also ran down the list of Def Jam artists set to release projects this year, which included Nas, Rick Ross, Kanye West, and many more.

The "I Used To Love H.E.R." rapper performed "Blue Sky," from his The Dreamer, The Believer album, and as always, kicked a freestyle for the fans. The Chi-Town spitter has bigger business at Sundance this year, as his new film 'Luv' premiered at the festival.

French Montana Explains Turning Down Kanye West, Doesn't Use E-Mail [Audio]

New York-bred rapper French Montana is explaining the motivation behind choosing Sean "Diddy" Combs' Bad Boy Records over Kanye West and his G.O.O.D. Music label. The Moroccan-born artist was embroiled in an alleged bidding war between the two labels, and told Hot 97's Angie Martinez, that his decision to go with Diddy over Chicago's finest came down to Yeezy's lack of availability.

"Kanye doesn't have a phone," he said. According to Montana, he met with Yeezy twice but things just didn't pan out correctly. "If you need to get in contact with Kanye, you have to email him. You can't tell me how to do that. I don't know how to use an email, so I guess me and you is never gonna talk, and I'ma put my career in your hands? He's definitely talented and I felt like if I went there, we would have definitely made history."

On the flip side, Montana's professional connection with Diddy appeared to be a better bet. Unlike his experience with West, Montana praised Diddy's ability to deliver on his words. "When I met up with Puff, everything he promised me came through," he said.

In lieu of a failed deal with Akon's Konvict Music imprint, and legal red tape brought on by the incarceration of his friend Max B, roadblocks have done little to hinder French's grind. The Cocaine City Records founder is known for consistently flooding the streets with new material, starting with his Cocaine City DVDs, which he began releasing in 2002, and dropping more than a dozen mixtapes since 2007.

Now that he's got his label residency under control, the 27-year-old is working on his Bad Boy debut Pardon My French, which will be executive produced by Diddy and Rick Ross, but has yet to reveal a release date for the project.
