Yesterday (May 22) in Brooklyn Federal Court, Rosemond's affiliation with Wyclef was put forth as evidence in the case as the prosecution continues to shore up charges that Rosemond helmed a $10-million dollar per year drug operation between New York and the west coast. Prosecutors introduced an October 13 Proffer Agreement from last year in court yesterday, in where Rosemond sought to offer details of his operation in order to reach a Cooperation Agreement. During the October session, Rosemond admitted he dealt in illegal activities, including saying that 80% to 90% of his income was supported by drug sales.

Rosemond said he loaned Wyclef Jean $60,000 dollars in drug money without the Haitian-American star's knowledge of where the funds came from. Rosemond also copped to selling Wyclef's driver several kilograms of yayo. Rosemond also supported Jean's 2010 presidential run in Haiti and also helped to organize a concert last year for Haitian president Michel "Sweet Micky" Martelly. The government put the pair's relationship in their sights after several checks sent to Rosemond from various business properties of Jean's amounted to around $800,000. Rosemond would also admit in the October talks with prosecutors that he used the offices of Interscope Records to deliver illegal contraband and also used rehearsal spaces in Los Angeles.

Rosemond's Cooperation Agreement was removed from consideration after Rosemond was found with a working cell phone in prison and exchanging texts with his brother Mario, a known fugitive of justice. Coupled with key witnesses who have testified in court against Rosemond in order to have their sentences reduced, the defense has said that testimony has been shaky at best and that prosecutors have been introducing evidence long thought to  have been excused from the trial. Still, Rosemond faces insurmountable odds as the case goes on.

The trial continues this week.

Two years ago today, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit the island of Haiti, causing hundreds of thousands of deaths and devastation. BET's 106 & Park is dedicating today's episode to highlighting the continued efforts being made to help the island rebuild from the unfortunate tragedy.

On hand with hosts Terrence J. and Rosci Diaz will be Pras of the Fugees, while his cousin Wyclef Jean will be speaking to viewers directly from Haiti via Facetime. Although there has been progress made in the island nation's recovery, there is still much work to be done.

The United States of America's, along with the Allied forces', occupation of Haiti for almost a decade now, and increasing since last January's tragic earthquake, has many people questioning their motive for remaining so long in the peninsula-country with the rich revolutionary history.

Rumors of heinous abuses by U.N. led forces have consistently surfaced - ranging from rampant looting; unprovoked murders of innocent, unarmed civilians and the sexual assaults of men, women and children; just to mention a few.

The allegations of abuse by invading imperialists have been reconfirmed when a video of three male members of the United Nations ‘peacekeeping' forces raping a young Haitian man was recently revealed.

The video appears to have been captured on a cell phone camera, and it shows a U.N. worker from Uruguay raping 18 years-young Johnny Jean, while a few other colleagues hold him down and watch, laughing.  The assault occurred in the town of Port-Salut, back on July 28^th 2011.

The victim and his mother, Rose Marie Jean, are said to have testified in front of a judge and gone on local radio stations revealing the homosexual practices of the filthy occupying U.N. operatives.

Although initial reports of the assault were denied, the video proves otherwise.

It has not been proven yet, but the assailant is said to have been dismissed from his military duties, and Uruguay claims to be continuing its investigative efforts.

U.N. forces have long been accused of… looting, raping, robbing and murdering victims; as well as spreading diseases like… cholera, gonorrhea, syphilis and H.I.V.; throughout its global colonizing conquests of other countries.

Major General Luiz Ramosa, Commander of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) delivered a hollow apology in a letter to Haiti:

“As commander of the military forces of the United Nations Mission for Stabilization in Haiti, I want to express my sincere regret for the unfortunate events caused by a small number of soldiers of MINUSTAH in Port-Salut…  It is very unfortunate that the bad actions of a few, tarnish the many good works of many others.

 Every day, the vast majority of staff of the MINUSTAH is working to display a high level of professionalism and discipline, and build good relations with the Haitian people.  We are guests in your country.”

Haitian President, Michel Martelly, said the illicit act… “would not go unpunished.”

The first round of votes in Haiti's presidential election caused riots in the streets as Mirlande Manigat appeared to be in the lead.

It has now been reported that musician Michel Martelly is the winner of Haiti's presidential election, according to official preliminary results.

Pras Michel, Martelly's Secretary of State pick and former Fugee member threatened more protest similar to Egypt if Martelly doesn't come out victorious. Pras has publicly supported Martelly even when Wyclef attempted to run for office.

Manigat was a law professor with 32 years of political experience while Martelly was a pop singer with a reputation for humor.

There have been rumors of fraud during the first round of votes and the final results are due April 16th. Hopefully they won't burn the country down as Pras promised if Martelly does not win.

As previously reported, Wyclef issued a statement saying that he was shot in the hand while visiting the country of the eve of Presidential elections.
According to Wyclef, he was exiting a vehicle to make a phone call when an unidentified assailant shot him in the hand around 11 p.m. Saturday.

"The way I can explain it is that the bullet grazed me in my right hand. I heard blow, blow, blow and I just looked at my hand," he said.

 

Local police however have dismissed Wyclef's claims and say he was only cut by glass, not struck by a bullet.

"We met with the doctor who saw him and he confirmed Wyclef was cut by glass," Vanel Lacroix, police chief in Petionville, told the Daily Mail.

Wyclef has yet to respond.

A rep for Wyclef Jean is confirming that the former Fugee was shot in the hand while in Haiti.

The emcee who previously wanted to be a nominee for Haitian Presidency, was reportedly shot in Port-au-Prince on Saturday -- on the eve of the country's presidential runoff vote.

His representative Cindy Tanenbaum has released a statement on his behalf saying,

"Wyclef's commitment to his native country and to his people is unparalleled. He is therefore undeterred by this incident."

She adds,

"Wyclef Jean was the victim of a minor gun shot wound last night in Haiti. I have confirmed from Wyclef that he was immediately taken to the hospital, treated for a minor graze to his hand and released.  He is fine."

Wyclef Jean And Actor Sean Penn Reconcile
Rapper Wyclef Jean and actor Sean Penn, who traded insults during Clef's Haiti presidential run, have reconciled their differences.

Last year, the two became embroiled in beef during Wyclef's shortened presidential run after Penn publicly made comments strongly opposing Jean's candidacy.

The former Fugee later accused the actor of snorting cocaine during a performance with the footage of Clef going viral and only adding to the drama.

But over the weekend, the men made amends.

On Saturday (February 12), they both happened to be at a show for the Haitian band T-Vice at the New York club, BB Kings.

The former rivals reportedly locked themselves in a dressing room for 30 minutes and only emerged after they had hashed out their misunderstandings.

Later, Clef and Penn met on stage in support of Haitian presidential candidate Michel Martelly, who was also in attendance.
