Sean also expressed his admiration for the Detroit beatsmith, calling him a "Hometown Hero."

The late producer will be celebrated on Feb. 10th at The Fillmore, in Detroit, which is schedule to feature Busta Rhymes, Danny Brown, Jay Electronica, and more.

Roc Nation Producer Jahlil Beats Talks 2012 Projects With Hip-Hop Wired

During the reopening of the 40/40 Club in New York City, Hip-Hop Wired had the chance to speak briefly with Roc Nation heatmaker Jahlil Beats. Beats' claim to fame thus far has been the meteoric rise of Meek Mill's "I'ma Boss." The anthem is arguably the biggest club record today, which is what led to Jahlil inking a deal with Roc Nation in October.

Beats has continued to hustle, carving out hits for Red Cafe, Jim Jones, Diggy Simmons, Chris Brown, and more. When speaking to Jahlil about what he's been able to do thus far, he just humbly sites as "just a blessing, and [I'm] honestly happy to be here." The 23 year-old Chester, Pennsylvania product maintains a high level of humility due to basically coming from nothing, along with Meek Mill. The two have been working together long before Meek's deal with MMG, coming up together as well.

Aside from continuing to work with Meek in 2012, Jahlil told us that you'll see him involved in the projects of label mates, Willow Smith, J.Cole and Jay Electronica as well as Jay-Z's upcoming album. He also hopes to work with Kanye West very soon, with a recent trip to L.A. serving as a step in that direction. "Hopefully I can work with Kanye," he said. "I just left L.A. and was working on a few things with No I.D. so hopefully I can get some work in on the G.O.O.D. Music Compilation.

When asked what his plans are for this year, Beats replied, "My goal is to continue to be humble and work hard. I'm under that umbrella now, so I just have to go hard!" A tweet sent out earlier reaffirms his outlook on where he's come from, and where he's going.

It sounds like the "I'ma Boss" producer has a full plate ahead of him for the New Year. This is another testament to following your dreams, and believing in your abilities. Sky is the limit for Roc Nation's newest phenom.

The Top 5 Hip-Hop Twitter Rants of 2011

Yesterday's Twitter barrages by both Deiondra Sanders & Pill got us to thinking; which collection of "140 characters or less" shots were the best of 2011? As the year wraps up, it's always good to reflect on the past, in order to make better decisions in the future. In this case, let's hope some of these artists log off and go to the studio instead of venting their frustrations and personal gripes for the world to see, and retweet.

A lot of people take shots at Hov for his involvement, or lack thereof, with his artists. We've seen in the past, that several new artists are consumed by their "Boss(es)," and become lost.

A few years ago we saw an artist released a "Classic" album, which we later found out wasn't entirely written by that artist, but in fact was mostly the work of his "Boss." That artist hasn't reached that level of acclaim since, and has also seemingly struggled to let the fallout with his former boss, fade away.

Hov takes the approach of allowing an artist to be themselves, and only offers guidance when necessary. The Co-sign lies in the opportunity granted, which many tend to lose sight of. Peep the video.

10 Unanswered Questions In Hip-Hop If The World Ends Today

Not to put a damper on everyone's day, but does anyone remember what today is? That's right...Doomsday 2011.

For anyone that might have forgot, earlier this year Christian radio broadcaster Harold Camping got everyone's pants in a bunch when he predicted that the world would end on May 21st, 2011.

May 21st came and went, and as you can see, we're still here.

But according to Camping, his calculations were off and the world would actually come to an end of October 2st, 2011.

October 21st is today folks.

Well, lets hope the world doesn't end today. Because if it did, so many questions in Hip-Hop would go unanswered.

Things I Didn't Know A Week Ago Part 4

1.Rap Crews Are Back

The hip-hop label/crew whatever you want to call it has returned. Gone are the Roc-A-Fellas, Bad Boys and Wu-Tang but Maybach Music Group, Shady Records, Young Money and G.O.O.D Music are making the hip-hop crew a relevant force again.

Kanye's crew just has to take some lessons from MMG and actually put out an artist or two, Young Money needs to find a place for Cory Gunz and explain to me why Tyga has a record deal...but other than that, the industry is looking pretty decent.

Eminem is putting his guys out soon, Wale is dropping an album, Meek is killing and as soon as Jay-Z finds some other rappers to join the Roc Nation gang, there could be some formidable forces in the game.

2.Cole Broke The Mold

Speaking of Hov's regime, J. Cole's second week in stores proved that no radio single or gimmick is necessary when you have a strong following, consistent mixtapes and a nod from the greatest alive. Cole surprised folks moving 217,000 his first week and I think he sold just under 70K in the second week so kudos to the Sideline Story.

Hopefully the major labels change up their approach a little bit. While we're on Roc Nation signees...

3.Jay Electronica Has Mind Control Power

His ability is not just over us mere mortals who believe it's okay for him to put out a song per season or a snippet of an unfinished record, he also got Prodigy to throw his diamonds up on a chorus.

Did Prodigy forget that ten years ago he was on a Summer Jam screen and getting referred to as "Twinkle Toes?" I mean I'm down for growth and squashing beef but somehow I think Jay Elect told him what to say and he said it.

This is the same man that congratulated Game and threatened him on Twitter in the same breath. Then he posed the same threat to any rapper in the business and I'm positive it worked. Did Game apologize yet? Believe he will.

4.DMX Hates Terrence And Rocsi

Dark Man X might just dislike everyone under 30 years old including the entire 106th & Park audience, but he really wanted to call Rocsi a b**ch a few times as he answered some questions on BET's video show.

Not only did they try to force him to admit that he listens to new rappers, but Rocsi blew up the fact that his hook was originally said by Drake. DMX looked comfortable performing at the BET Hip-Hop Awards but speaking to Terrence and Rocsi, he looked like his publicist convinced him this was a good idea to get the "youth."

5.Drake Is Tough

He's not afraid of Pusha T coming at him sideways, he doesn't care about radio shows or rappers taking subliminal jabs, and his album is going to sell records and answer questions.

Drizzy went on Funk Flex's radio show and didn't rap while reading his phone, he expressed his bravado calmly suggesting (I'm paraphrasing) he saw Serena Williams naked, he's been there, done that with Rihanna, and if Jay and Wayne go at it, Aubrey may have to jump in on his "brother's" side as opposed to his mentor. Be afraid.

6.The BET Hip-Hop Cyphers Featured Some Awards

I know BET is not the best network in the world and I understand hip-hop is not in its golden era but when you have to have seven cyphers to fill in for the lack of categories, performances or overall interest in your show, maybe it's time to rethink the ceremony.

The cyphers are great for exposure when new artists like Stalley and Kendrick Lamar get national light. But others who might not need to be spitting outside of a record, don't need the exposure because they just get exposed. If you would have told me that I'd be hearing some R&B singers, a French cat flowing with subtitles and a blind guy rapping, I would tune in just for that, but how about you guys put together a real award show too?

Anyway I had some observations about the show that I decided to write down because I'm always a fan of learning things I didn't know seven days prior.

-Those Shady guys can rap, Royce introduced himself to a whole slew of new folks, Crooked I showed why he's my favorite Slaughterhouse occupant and Eminem made everyone that rapped in a cypher feel a little dumb for a few minutes.

-LL Cool J might have had the second or third best verse of the evening during his acceptance speech that he (his ghost writer) wrote on the way to the event.

-Someone (Wiz Khalifa) just has to perform shirtless every award show huh? Do the stylists include that in their fee? Tight pants, fresh kicks, hat, shades and show off your boxers?

-I'm glad Lupe got to do a song with a message. BET snuck in some realness during the fluff.

-Fifty showed the "how to take down a star" method years ago when he shouted out Vivica Fox's dress...Royce da 5'9" was watching. Good luck Royce.

-Black people show up for MTV Awards but there were a whole lot of "this person couldn't be here tonight" for BET. Makes sense though.

Jay Electronica Talks "Call Of Duty (Modern Warfare 3)"

Now that Roc Nation artist Jay Electronica has blessed the masses with a new song, the New Orleans rapper took to his Tumblr page to give some insight on the new track, working with Mobb Deep and his thoughts on the music industry.

Via Eye of Eℒectronica:

i wouldn't have believed it myself if i hadn't experienced it.

within just 24 hours, i wrote a record to give away online, summoned the legendary Infamous Mobb Deep via out of the blue tweets and we released a record together. I became a trending topic Worldwide within 3 minutes of its release and actually penetrated radio. Just heard the news that the Great Zane Lowe will premiere the record in the United Kingdom tonight as ‘The Hottest Record In The World”.

All of the above is attempted daily by major music corporations who have teams of ppl spending excessive amounts of money and still fall short of the goal. My methodology is quite different, but we must agree… it works. and on a pretty consistent basis. with exponential growth. every. single. time.

i'd like to take this time to quote my mom …”thats pretty damn good son!”

i guess it is.

and this isn't even a single.

or even a song from my album.

its just a dope ass beat, with some (extra) dope rhymes from me and 2 of My favorite hip hop artists of all time, who woke up yesterday not even knowing they'd be on a record with me a few hours later.

Look at the atmosphere all in a stir.

if i were a younger me, right now is probably where i would say, “dog, look around. I'm the f*cking man ouchea”

good thing I'm striving to grow.

i wouldn't have believed it myself if i hadn't experienced it.

I am Thankful and Grateful for This Blessing Filled Journey

Take another listen to Jay Electronica's "Call Of Duty" here.
