50 Cent Says He And Jay-Z Aren't Friends

After doing shows alongside Jay-Z and even appearing on a few tracks together, it seems there is a clashing of egos between the Roc Nation head and 50 Cent.

In a recent interview with MTV UK, 50 clears up speculation that there is any "friendship" between the two.

"Me and Jay will use each other," says Fifty. "We don't have those kinds of relationships. "We are in the same business. We are not necessarily friends. We don't call each other for no reason."

50 Cent makes it clear that he has nothing personal against Jay-Z himself but it seems as pride has gotten in the way of further collaborations.

"They don't pick up the phone and call me," he says.

This isn't the first time Fif has spoken on his relationship, or lack of with Jay-Z.

In a past interview with Allhiphop.com he expressed Jay's need to avoid confrontation.

"He created this safe aura-- it wouldn't be like that if he handled his issues himself. He's a piece of work, he always puts somebody in front of him." Fifty continued, mentioning his past beefs with Jada and Cam'ron.

"When [Jadakiss] came for him, he put Beanie in front of him and Beanie went back and forth with Jadakiss. When [Cam'ron] came for him, he put Tru Life in front of him and they went back and forth and he just didn't compete."

In related news, Sleek Audio recently confirmed that they would no longer be releasing 50 Cent's Sleek By 50 headphones.

NBA Investigating Jay-Z's Kentucky Locker Room Visit

The NBA is investigating to find out if rapper/New Jersey Nets team owner Jay-Z broke any rules by being in the University of Kentucky Wildcats locker room following their tournament victory over the University of North Carolina Tarheels.

Following the Wildcats regional final tournament victory over the Tarheels Sunday (March 27), Jigga was photographed with players in the school's locker room.

As partial owner of the NBA's New Jersey Nets, Jay is prohibited from fraternizing with college players in they have not declared themselves eligible for the NBA draft. UK has has at least two potential draft picks on their roster.

In 2007 Celtics GM Dan Ainge was fined $30,ooo for sitting next to Kevin Durant's mother during a Big 12 tournament game.

Jay-Z And Beyonce Recording Duet For Dr. Dre's ‘Detox'?

While Jay-Z and Beyonce are often seen together in public, it's been years since fans have seen them together in the studio.

That could all change however now that The Sun reports that Mr. and Mrs. Carter are recording a duet for Dr. Dre's Detox.

As previously reported, there was speculation that the long awaited album would finally hit stores April 20 but Dre shot down the rumors without announcing a new release date.

Although when it arrives is unknown, there are reports that Dre's tipped Jay-Z and his wife for one of lead Detox tracks.

A source tells The Sun,

"Jay and Dre have recorded their verses with the chorus left open for Beyoncé to sing. The producer has worked on Detox for over a decade. He wanted the couple together."

Jay-Z and Beyonce have yet to respond to the rumor.

Gwyneth Paltrow Wants To Work With Jay-Z

After rocking the stage with Cee-Lo Green at this year's Grammy's, Gwyneth Paltrow is planning to expound on her music career.

According to Rumorfx.com, the Oscar nominated actres s is interested in collabing with Roc Nation head Jay-Z on a song duet.

According to the site, Paltrow, who is married to Jay's good friend Chris Martin of Cold Play, thinks the hook up would be "a good combination."

The actress was also recently quoted as saying, "[Jay-Z] is a genius -- and I'm his biggest fan."

Strangely, this wouldn't be the first time the two have linked up musically.

Paltrow sang the chorus for "Song Cry," from the rapper's album Blueprint during Hov's 2006 concert at Royal Albert Hall.

The actress had singing debut in the 2000 film Duets, where she performed a cover version of Smokey Robinson's "Cruisin'". The song was later released as a single reaching #1 on Australia's music charts.

Paltrow is also good friends with the rapper's wife Beyonce.

Jay-Z takes shots at LL Cool J saying that competing at his level, at his age is “rarefied air” in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine

Jay-Z also acknowledges the fact that the path that his career has taken is not the usual for most rappers—if any.

I guess when you are on top of the rap game, 40 years old, and bored you have nothing better to do than start beef with other 40 year olds?

“We've seen people like LL Cool J have longevity and we respect the heritage of what he's done but it's not like right now he's competing on the same level as Lil' Wayne so for me to still be able to compete at that level at my age, that's rarefied air, it's never been done.”

Jay-Z feels that the real way to stay in the game is to stay true to who you are as a rapper and not try to make “young songs.”

"I think the problem with people, as they start to mature, they say, 'Rap is a young man's game,' and they keep trying to make young songs. But you don't know the slang — it changes every day. You can visit the topic, but these young kids live it every day, and you're just visiting. So you're trying to be something you're not, and the audience doesn't buy into that. And people wonder why [they're not selling]. 'I made a great Southern bounce song!' You're from New York, and you're 70! Why are you bouncing?"

Jay-Z seems like he is setting himself up to have a rap career well into the foreseeable future and if that means taking out former rap legends like LL Cool J in the process, so be it!

It also looks like LL may have struck a nerve a couple of years back and Jay may still have salt in his wounds. Speaking truthfully, LL once stated that just because you're the best baker doesn't mean you know how to run a bakery…

And judging from Jigga's success as a label head, LL may have been right.

Jay-Z Accused of Racism

In the midst of promoting his Blueprint III tour with Trey Songz and Young Jeezy, Jay-Z is seeing his name brought up in headlines overseas now that he's facing allegations of racism.

British newspaper The Daily Star is reporting that would-be attendees to an after party he held for the Brit Awards were denied entry based on the color of their skin.

Several people reported to the Star that they could not get in because they were white.

Held at London's Club Merah, club-goers were outraged about not being let in, with one unnamed attendee telling the paper,

“The security guards were happy to let in all party-goers apart from the white people.”

The paper also reports that several of Britain's Black celebs left during the melee including Oritsé Williams of British boy band JLS and dancing show judge Alesha Dixon.

Obviously upset by the turn of events, Dixon tells The Star,

“My friends have been getting knocked about and no-one seems to care. I need to get out of here. I'd rather be at my local kebab shop Elsie's right now than back inside with all that aggro.“

Jay-Z has yet to release a statement on the allegations but security at the venue are believed to be part of the club's personal staff and not associated with the mogul.

Jay-Z Sues Investment Firm For $3.7 Mil

Although he's been hit with lawsuits of his own, Jay-Z is turning the tables this time and taking an investment firm to court.

Jay-Z filed a federal lawsuit yesterday against Highland Capital Management asserting that the firm tried to “bleed funds” from him and two of his business partners.

According to court documents, Jay borrowed $52 million from Highland Capital Management to go toward the “J Hotel”, a posh hotel he hoped to open in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood.

He says however that the idea between him and two other business partners was put on hold following last year's shaky economy.

When Jigga and his partners asked to restructure the loan last year, they claim that Highland Capital deliberately made it a long, drawn out process that ultimately cost him $20,000 a day.

He is seeking $3.7 million in damages.

A spokesperson for Highland Capital has since spoken out against Jay saying his lawsuit is “meritless” and the firm has vowed to “vigorously defend itself.”

He said it before....

He's not a businessman....he's a business, man.

Jay-Z's “On To The Next One” Director Explains "Illumanati" Video

When Jay-Z and Swizz Beatz premiered their video for “On To The Next One” on New Year's Eve the world was abuzz with rumors that the Jigga man was confirming rumors that he was in ties with an underground secret society.

The video's dark imagery and gothic undertones led to numerous YouTube videos breaking down the visual to expose the seemingly dark forces behind it and Jay's ties to the Illuminati and FreeMasonry.

Now for the first time the director of the video Sam Brown is speaking out to defend his work.

Brown spoke in an interview with Vibe on his product saying that the “visually illiterate” public got it all wrong, there are no ties with the video to any culture or belief system.

“I think when you're dealing in abstract imagery people are going to want to draw lines between things and make sense of it. However, I've always felt that the viewing public was, in general, extremely visually literate. They don't always want or need things to be spelt out for them. One of the great things about music videos are they can be enjoyed purely visually—it doesn't need to mean anything or make any sense….

There is imagery in this video that is drawn from all over the place. None of it is owned by any one culture or belief system. You can connect anything if you try hard enough, and make it mean anything you want it to.”

He also added to Vibe that while Jay gave him a “loose brief” of the concept for the video, ultimately the idea for the video was his.

“He gave me a very loose brief, and made it clear that we should be progressive with the video. All the imagery was thought up by me and was a response to the track itself.

For those interested, the idea is actually about a funeral for old imagery and ideas, hence all the gothic and oppressive stuff. I was also trying to contradict the excess of hip-hop videos by making something brutally simple and claustrophobic.”

See? It all makes sense now.

Jay's not illumanati, Sam Brown is....right?
