Texas rapper Trae Da Truth is announcing plans to file a lawsuit against Houston radio station 97.9 KBXX, The Box.

Trae will hold a press conference today to express his grievances with the station and their parent company Radio One Inc.

The Houston lyricist' issues with the station stem from last July's “Trae Day” event, a public festival he sponsored on the campus of Texas Southern University to pay homage to his good works.

The day to honor the local celebrity ended in violence however leaving several people shot and wounded.

Reacting to the violence, 97.9 The Box distanced themselves from the artist and reportedly banned his music from their station.

Now Trae's striking back in a lawsuit where he claims that several staff members of 97.9 suffered harsh consequences for playing his music.

The lawsuit alleges a station staff member was suspended without pay for making a mixtape with Trae's work on it while a popular DJ duo was fired for playing a Chamillionaire song that contained a verse from the rapper.

He also claims that rapper 6tre Gangsta scrapped an idea to make a song with him in fear that it would be banned as well.

Speaking out against the station, Trae says he felt it was the right time to take a stand.

"I would not have filed a lawsuit, but when other people started being hurt by this ban, I knew I had to stand up."

He is suing for general damages to his reputation, character, standing in the community, mental suffering, loss of professional opportunities, performance revenue, record royalties and other damages.

As the Holiday season gears into full swing various artists are donating their time to help those less fortunate. DJ Drama recently made headlines for his charitable endeavors with Atlanta's Hosea Williams Feed The Hungry program while Cash Money CEOs Birdman and Slim will be hosting their 13th annual turkey giveaway for the occasion.

Following in Hip-Hop's philanthropic footsteps is none other than UGK's Bun B who is stepping in to host a food drive to feed the hungry.

Bun is teaming up with Boost mobile to collect food for the Houston food bank. The phone company will also donate $5,000 to a charity he specially selected, Bethel's place community and outreach center.

Local Houston radio station KBXX 97.9 ‘The Box' will be onsite broadcasting live and giving people who donate five or more canned goods free tickets to see Bun B in concert later that night at Hush nightclub.

Bun B's food drive takes place Wednesday November 25 at the Boost Mobile in Westhill Village.

Good to see Bun giving back to the community and keeping that UGK legacy going.

UGK fo' life. Po up.
