Legendary producer DJ Premier is gearing up to release his first album project through his record label his Year Round Records imprint, titled Get Used To Us.

According to published reports, the upcoming collaboration LP will feature guest appearances by Styles P, Royce 5'9, Joell Ortiz, Saigon, Papoose, KRS-One, Grand Puba, and MC Eiht.

The producer will also feature two of his latest Year Round artists, Nick Javas and Khaleel, alongside label-mates NYG'z.

As for why he chose to release his compilation album in 4th quarter, Premier told Ballerstatus.net that high demand for his expertise is what kept his project on hold.

"I chose to release this LP while I put the finishing touches on all of the projects that were due for 2010," Premier said. "I figured, why not pull a song from each project as well as the remixes that were only available on 12" inch vinyl last year. Since I am independent and I do not have to worry about following the map that our industry goes by, my goal is to release more than six albums in 2011.”

In addition to preparing for his collaboration project, Premier is also working on projects with Pete Rock (Pete Rock vs DJ Premier) and KRS-One (Return Of The Boom Bip) among others.

"I am a street DJ! Street DJ's set the trends of what is good way before everyone knows what is happening," Premier continued. "Street DJ's are like weathermen, we know when it is sunny, rainy, snowy, hurricanes; you name it before it actually hits. To prove my independence, I am dropping 4 singles and videos all at once."

The Get Used To It compilation is scheduled to hit stores on December 7th.

KRS-One is continuing to speak out against the proposed erection of the National Museum of Hip-Hop.

As previously reported The Teacha was supposed to host the launch ceremony for the museum but instead spoke out saying that he and several other Hip-Hop pioneers did not and would not support the institution.

Now he's speaking out again and says that the pioneers featured in the upcoming building should receive some kind of compensation.

He tells the Wall Street Journal,

“They deserve to get paid. This wouldn't be a gift, more like a honorarium for scholars.”

In addition to KRS-One, Chuck D of Public Enemy has made it clear that he's no fan of the museum.

The WSJ reports that he was expected to co-host the museum's April Gala at New York's Pink Elephant nightclub but left early saying,

“This is like the O.K. Corral.”

The rappers and their supporters have since formed the Universal Federation for Preservation of Hip-Hop, what the Wall Street Journal describes as a sort of “union to generate revenue for the pioneers. “

Federation members would license their memorabilia to be used at museums or in movies for a fee.

KRS-One has never backed down from a battle on the mic, especially in regards to the legacy of Hip-Hop, so when he decided to lead a boycott against the National Museum of Hip-Hop many fans were surprised.

At the April 8 launch event for the National Museum of Hip-Hop in the Bronx, KRS-One shocked the audience with a message to boycott the museum because it did not pay proper respect to the forefathers of Hip-Hop.

In addition, he also advised fans that none of the pioneers were in support of the museum and that he and his “Hip-Hop Church” the Temple of Hip-Hop were not attending for support, but to observe the ceremony.
Speaking out against the museum he said,
"Afrika Bambaataa has said this event is illegitimate and should not happen. None of the pioneers are in support of this event. None of them will be here tonight. I am here on behalf of the temple of hip-hop as an observer. We are observing."

KRS-One who was involved in the initial planning and organization of the museum, has now spoken out against recent changes in direction.

According to KRS-One, he and Bambaataa have been working on a more accurate, commemorative museum for over two decades, but the people in charge didn't “respect Hip-Hop history enough to address the pioneers as individuals.”

"Here is what we are dealing with, ladies and gentleman.” KRS-One continued, “We have been trying to start a hip-hop museum for over 20 years. In fact, it was Afrika Bambaataa that came up with the idea. However, most of the people who have been behind the hip-hop museum idea seem to always create groups without addressing the pioneers themselves."

As of press time, the National Museum of Hip-Hop has not responded to the statement, we will keep you updated as this story develops.
