The jury deliberated for only an hour and a half before handing down its verdict. While the prosecution thought it had an open and shut case after calling 27 witnesses and thanks to an alleged confession from  Michael "Marlo Mike" Louding, which he later recanted during the trial, and damning song lyrics, the jury clearly saw things differently. The defense closed its case yesterday without calling a single witness and argued that their simply was too much doubt, and "deception," surrounding the circumstances of Terry Boyd's death.

"This case not about Boosie, but who's being tried first?" said Boosie's lawyer, Jason Williams, in his closing arguments, delivered this morning. "Not the man who says he killed six people." Williams also added that authorities were simply looking for a high profile arrest, telling the jury, "What's bigger than a rapper going down for murder?"

Worth noting is that the jury consisted of six Black women, two Black men, three white women and one white man. Boosie Bad Azz isn't coming home anytime soon, though. He is currently serving an eight-year prison sentence after pleading guily to separate drug charges late last year.

Lil Boosie's fate now  lies in the hands of a Louisiana jury. Both the prosecution and the defense concluded their cases in the rapper's murder trial Thursday (May 10). Over the six-day trial, prosecutors called a total of 27 witnesses to the stand, while Boosie's defense team rested their case without calling a witness.  “Based upon the burden of proof lying with the state, the defense rests with the witnesses the state has put on,” said Boosie's attorney Jason Williams.

Jurors opted to recess rather than go straight into deliberations, and will return Friday (May 10) morning to hear closing arguments. Earlier in the week the man accused of carrying out Boosie's murder-for-hire, Mike “Marlo Mike” Louding, recanted his alleged murder confession maintaining that he never admitted to police that he shot and killed victim, Terry Boyd. According to Louding, he was with Boosie's at his house, alongside accused getaway driver, Adrienne Pittman.

The prosecution also played the lyrics to the 29-year-old's song “187” which they attest, proves that he paid Louding $2,800 to commit the crime. “Yo Marlo/He drive a Monte Carlo/That Itchbay gray, I want that N***a dead today,” Boosie raps on the track. Forensic specialist also investigated Boosie's hard drive and concluded that he recorded the song one hour before the shooting took place. Also damaging to the image that his lawyers are trying to paint, is the fact that the Louisiana native has an AK-47 inked on his stomach with the words, Yo Boosie Who's Next?

Boosie, born Torrance Hatch, was indicted on murder charges in 2010.

Authorities claim Louding previously confessed to the murder, but under oath, he said he never did so, and claimed he (along with accused getaway driver Adrienne Pittman) was with Lil Boosie the night the murder allegedly happened. In a "you can't be serious" twist, lead prosecutor Dana Cummings revealed that Louding has a tattoo that allegedly implies his guilt to the murder. That tattoo in question is a picture of an AK-47 on his stomach accompanied by the words, “Yo Boosie Who's Next?” The ink was reportedly done two weeks after the murder took place.

Boosie's defense team contends that the two men were not close friends and barely knew each other, though they agree that Louding was at Boosie's home the night of the killing. The defense is also contending that voices in Louding's head told him to commit the crime.

The prosecution claims that Boosie paid Louding $2,800 to kill Terry Boyd in 2009. Boosie faces life in prison if convicted.

Once the screening process is over, only 12 people will be chosen to decide the fate of the 29-year-old.  Given the high-profile nature of the case, extra security has been brought into the courtroom, as a precaution.

Boosie, born Torrence Hatch, is suspected of paying for the 2009 murder of  Terry Body. Prosecutors in the case will use his lyrics as proof of his involvement in the shooting, but Boosie's defense attorney maintains that his client was not involved in the murder-for-hire, noting that his lyrics prove nothing.  "Torrence Hatch wrote some of those lyrics," said his attorney Jason Williams. "There are other artists who wrote other parts of the lyrics. The lyrics have nothing to do with this crime. He's a rap artist. He has thousands of lyrics."

Since being locked up, Boosie has kept in contact with his fans, by penning a letter to his supporters posted by Ozone Magazine and on the site, BoosieJustice.com. If convicted, he faces life in prison.

The ruling was reached following a four-hour pre-trial hearing Tuesday (April 24). Boosie, born Torrence Hatch, is accused of hiring a hitman to murder Terry Boyd back in 2009. The shooter, Michael "Marlo Mike" Louding is also wanted in connection with six other murders in the area. Interrogative detective Alvin Howard, of the Baton Rouge Police Department, testified that lines like "187," "murk" and "cake," found in Boosie's music reference the killing. Howard also said that Louding admitted to being paid $2800 to commit the murder, yet the defense argued that the detective never verified where the funds actually came from.

Since his incarceration, Boosie—who was rumored to have died behind bars— has continued to release new music, and penned a letter to fans thanking them for their support. If convicted, he faces life in prison.

On top of murder charges, Boosie was also given an eight-year bid for trying to sneak drugs into two Louisiana prisons, but will serve less than two years of the sentence. "Last month I was sentence[d] to 8 years with credit for time served so I will have to do 19 months on that sentence. I go to trial for this murder charge in April so please keep me in your prayers. To all my fans who write me through J-Pay make sure you put your address so I can respond. Its hard to write every body back but I will try my best to do so."

Boosie, born Torrence Hatch, was serving a four-year sentence for drug and weapons possession when the murder charges came about. He is suspected of putting a hit out on an up-and-coming rapper Chris "Nussie" Jackson, back in 2009. One of Boosie's associates Michael "Marlo Mike" Louding is the man charged with actually committing the crime. According to prosectors, Louding shot Nussie in the head in retaliation for a verbal disagreement. He has also been charged with murdering five other people.

Since being locked up, Boosie has used his website to not only reach out to the public but dispel rumors, the most recent of which claimed that he had died behind bars. Despite being locked up the rapper is still focused on his music career. His record label, Bad Azz Entertainment, is planning to release a compilation album before the end of the year.

Well, despite allegedly catching the fade in Chicago for not properly compensating Boosie's family, Webbie is trying to squash the death rumors. "LET ME CLEAR IT UP, BOOSIE IS NOT DEAD," tweeted Webbie earlier today.

This entire matter is hella suspect, and in bad taste, considering the music world just lost Whitney Houston yesterday (February 11).

Since Boosie has been in prison, Webbie, Fox and Lil Trill have been doing 'Free Lil Boosie' shows and selling 'Free Lil Boosie' shirts but according to Boosie's mother, the only contact from the rap world she's received has been through Young Jezzy, Yo Gotti, Mi5led and Waka Flocka.

The fight apparently was a gangsta party as the "Anti-FukBoi Movement" was in affect as members of several Chicago gangs including The Vice Lords and  Latin Kings took part in the beatdown.
