The slaying of gay Mississippi mayoral candidate Marco McMillian has resulted in a murder charge of suspect Lawrence Reed on Monday (March 4). Following the announcement by the Coahoma County Sheriff’s Department, the McMillian family issued a statement alleging that the political hopeful was savagely beaten and left for dead.
Marco McMillian, a gay mayoral candidate in Clarksdale, Miss., was found dead near the Mississippi River on Wednesday (Feb. 27) morning after being reported missing a day prior. Although charges have not been filed, a person of interest has been taken into custody, sparking the possibility of a homicide investigation.
