Serving as a new means of delivering religion in a way that will appeal to the masses, a Fight Church has been established that blends the love and compassion of Jesus Christ with mixed martial arts.

Taking place at Canyon Creek Church in Lynwood, WA, Fight Church is a mixture of MMA, marketing and the Messiah where fight nights parties are held. Those in attendance are able to witness the hardcore action and also receive enlightenment as they hear the message of Jesus.

Apparently, many churches have are embracing the sport as a means to reach and convert young men that aren't regular attendees at church.

Pastor Brandon Beals, who refers to himself as the Fight Pastor has stated that Jesus himself was never a quitter and that's exactly what the fighters aim to do when they enter the ring.

"It's just a good entry point for people to develop a relationship with us and begin to know who we are," said Beals.

Hoping to expand, the members of Fight Church are looking to create a ministry for the local MMA community.

"They have people to look after their physical needs, but not their spiritual needs," says Beals. "That's where we want to come in."

Demico Rogers, 28, hailing from Renton, is one fighter that is sponsored by the church. He looks to serve as a role model and wants to bring children into the gym to create a sense of discipline and mold a mentality where kids won't be prone to take their fights to the street.

"I want to bring them into the gym because once you get them in and they start training they develop a respect for the sport and they won't go out in the street and do that anymore," said Rogers.

DMX made headlines in September after announcing that he was willing to allow bodily harm to be inflicted on him by the hands of a mixed martial arts fighter. Now reports are circulating that he came to his senses and pulled out of the scheduled beat down.

As previously reported, he was scheduled to take on Eric Martinez on December 12 in Jefferson, Alabama. He even caused promotional melee about the upcoming production by stating that he wouldn't train for the event. Instead, he had the bright idea to just show up for the match to make things “more fair.”

He told the MMA Nation radio show,

“I'm going to just walk in as it is. It wouldn't be fair if I trained.”

X's fight was to be the precursor for the main event, the battle between Tank Abbot and Butterbean. That matchup will continue as scheduled.

Let's hope DMX really did cancel the fight, for the sake of his children at least.

Dark Man X is showing a side not often seen by most, his charitable side, and is preparing to perform a benefit concert. Following in the recent footsteps of Jay whose September 11 benefit was highly successful; X will lend his bark and his bite to a starting lineup of performers to raise money for American Charities, Incorporated. Also performing is Black Pegasus, Macatic Crew, I AM HIP HOP ROC, Ti'Jean, Hustle Hard Records artists J Blev, Dirty, Texas Recording artist Mr. Money aka Texas Tycoon, DJ MyzlerE and Dee Jay Bee.

Artists will also help out with community service before the event by delivering food to the American Charity Food Bank that helps feed 5,000 families in the winter. The concert takes place in Colorado Springs, Colorado on Saturday October 16.

The concert and charity work should prove to be a fitting distraction to X who will be in training for his upcoming mixed martial arts battle. He's taking on the CEO of Power Moves Entertainment, Eric Martinez during Alabama's ‘Alabama Pride' celebration in December. His fight will not be the main attraction at the event. Instead the match between mixed martial artists Butterbean and Tank Abbot will take center stage.

Dark Man X has always been an enigma but the reason as to why he has decided to participate in a mixed martial arts match is beyond the grasp of those whom reside within the realm of sanity.

The legendary New York rapper will be making his debut in the Octagon on December 12th at the Jefferson Convention Complex in Birmingham, Alabama for “Alabama Pride,” an event created to stimulate its namesake.

The Ruff Ryder lyricist will be facing none other than Eric Martinez, CEO of Power Moves Entertainment, a record label and promotion company based in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The two will square off in the under card for the affair, of which, the headline fight will be between washed-brawler Tank Abbot and even more washed up former boxer Butterbean. Martinez, a members of DMX' s management squad, will be wrestling against the multi-platinum artist.
