As G-Dep sits in prison for the murder of a Harlem man nearly two decades ago, the former Bad Boy artist doesn't regret his decision to come clean about the incident. In an interview with the New York Post, Dep explained that if given the opportunity to change his mind, he would still have come forward with the admission. “No, never,” he said when asked if he had regrets. Sentenced to 15-years to life last week, the father of three noted that serving time may affect his opinion, in the future.“Maybe at the end of serving time or after looking back, someone might feel differently. But now I feel what I did was right.” On the night in question, Dep attempted to rob John Henkel, back in 1993. After confessing to the crime, the father of three recanted his story maintaining that he first had no idea that the victim died, then stated that the person he shot was a not Henkel. In the end Dep was found guilty, and must serve a minimum of 15 years behind bars.

If given the opportunity to advise his younger self, Dep said that he'd tell himself not to “stop playing with guns.”

Nearly two years after confessing to murder, rapper G-Dep has learned how long he will spend behind bars for the act. A judge sentenced the former Bad Boy artist to 15 years to life for his role in the 1993 shooting of a Harlem man. Dep was given the minimum sentence, which may or may not have been due to his confession. In December of 2010 the father of three walked into a New York police station and admitted to robbing and shooting a man, which investigators were able to link to the then unsolved murder of John Henkel.

While in prison Dep attempted to recant his story claiming that he did not shoot Henkel, but another victim. He also maintains that he was unaware that the victim had died after the shooting. "My hope is that Trevell never wavers from his decision,” said Dep's lawyer, Anthony Ricco. "Fifteen years is a long time. Fifteen years in the penitentiary for putting yourself there is an even longer time."

As he preps to spend a good chunk of his life behind bars, Dep has stated working on a book about his life. "It's one of those things where I'm not trying to explain or justify anything," he said during an interview from prison. "It's just I'm trying to just give people my last option. Obviously I can't record. I don't know if people are wondering what's going on or even care, but this is something from an artistic point of view that will kind of close out what I was doing, for now. It might kinda answer some people's questions."

Back in 1998 Dep was signed to Bad Boy under a five-album deal.

Former Bad Boy rapper G-Dep is making the most out of his prison bid. The Harlem native could spend the rest of his years behind bars, for confessing to committing a murder back in 1993. But while he's there, he plans to capture his life story in a new autobiography.

Dep, born Trevell Coleman, is currently doing time at New York's Riker's Island, and in a new interview, the 37-year-old divulged details on his forthcoming literary work. "It's one of those things where I'm not trying to explain or justify anything," he said. "It's just I'm trying to just give people my last option. Obviously I can't record. I don't know if people are wondering what's going on or even care, but this is something from an artistic point of view that will kind of close out what I was doing, for now. It might kinda answer some people's questions."

The book will be written in poetry, and Dep hopes that his work will allow the public to see both sides of his story. "Really, I'm just putting my story out there. And I'm trying to give a positive message at the same time."

Life behind bars has been far from easy for the one-time music star. In September, Dep's appeal to have his murder charges reduced to manslaughter was denied, and given his videotaped admission, there is fear that his defense team doesn't have much favorable evidence in their corner. While his lawyers claim that the person that he shot nearly two decades ago was not the victim in question, John Henkel, the rapper's confession --posted on the New York Post website this morning-- tells a different story. "I had a gun in the house and I brought it out one night,” he told cops. “I got on my bike. My intent was to get some money and rob somebody.” After spotting a Henkel standing on a street corner in Harlem, Dep approached him and attempted to commit the robbery, with a .40 caliber firearm. “I took the gun out as I was walking towards him and then I just pointed it at him and asked him where the money was." The two men struggled for the weapon, but according to one of Dep's recounts, he had no idea that the victim died until after his confession. As his struggle between fact and fiction continues, the father of three now claims to have been talking about a separate, nonfatal, crime.

If convicted, Dep faces 15 years to life in prison.

Police in Miami are looking to speak with Rick Ross regarding a murder that took place outside of his home early this morning. The Maybach Music Group head is not implicated as a suspect in the death of the 40-year-old man, whose identity has not been released.

Sources told TMZ that Ross wasn't even at his Miami Gardens home at the time of the shooting, but that the victim's body was found inside the gate. Authorities are unsure whether or not the dead man had any ties to the Teflon Don, but nonetheless, cops are still interested in questioning him on the matter.

Ross has been busy performing all over the place, heading to Orlando, over the weekend, for a gig at The Beachem to close out festivities celebrating the NBA All-Star Game. He's also gearing up to drop his long-awaited God Forgives, I Don't album, and the second installment of the MMG Self Made compilation.

As of yet Ross has not released a statement on the matter but he retweeted the statement "I Gotta Thank The Lord 10x's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" He could very well be talking about giving thanks in general, but not being suspected in a murder is at the top of the list of things to be thankful for. Just ask Max B.

Nearly two years after he was slapped with murder charges, rapper Lil Boosie is headed to trial this April. The Louisiana native will possibly spend the rest of life behind bars, or face the death penalty, and took to his website to release a letter thanking fans. "First, I want to thank you, all of you for supporting me through these hard times," he wrote.

On top of murder charges, Boosie was also given an eight-year bid for trying to sneak drugs into two Louisiana prisons, but will serve less than two years of the sentence. "Last month I was sentence[d] to 8 years with credit for time served so I will have to do 19 months on that sentence. I go to trial for this murder charge in April so please keep me in your prayers. To all my fans who write me through J-Pay make sure you put your address so I can respond. Its hard to write every body back but I will try my best to do so."

Boosie, born Torrence Hatch, was serving a four-year sentence for drug and weapons possession when the murder charges came about. He is suspected of putting a hit out on an up-and-coming rapper Chris "Nussie" Jackson, back in 2009. One of Boosie's associates Michael "Marlo Mike" Louding is the man charged with actually committing the crime. According to prosectors, Louding shot Nussie in the head in retaliation for a verbal disagreement. He has also been charged with murdering five other people.

Since being locked up, Boosie has used his website to not only reach out to the public but dispel rumors, the most recent of which claimed that he had died behind bars. Despite being locked up the rapper is still focused on his music career. His record label, Bad Azz Entertainment, is planning to release a compilation album before the end of the year.

Police: Witnesses Are Saying Slim Dunkin Was Murdered Over Candy

In the latest Police Report, Homicide Detective David Quinn stated:

“The victim, Mario Hamilton, known as Slim Dunkin,….according to witnesses, someone came into this room, struck him and a fight ensued. The information we're getting, it's unconfirmed, but witnesses are saying this whole thing started over a piece of candy….“

While murder is never an easy crime to understand, the reasons behind this one make it all the more difficult. The police are saying that there was an argument, which led to a fight, and being that Dunkin (who stands 6'8) was bigger than his attacker, was the reason behind the usage of the firearm.

The reason for there being a lack of suspects, is said to be because at the time of the incident, the witnesses rushed Dunkin to the hospital, rather than inform the police. The cops arrived at the hospital where Dunkin was driven, and about 90 minutes later, at the crime scene. Upon their arrival, all of the witnesses had already dispersed, which leaves the gaping hole in the case.

Losing someone is never easy to deal with, and with this coming around the Holiday's, I can only imagine what his family and friends are going through. Let's hope this situation can come to a close soon, to place all of the grieving parties at ease, just a little.

Updated Evidence Supports LAPD Cover Up In Notorious B.I.G. Murder

The murder of The Notorious B.I.G is one of hip-hop's cold cases that may never get solved. Fourteen years after the fatal night Christopher Wallace left a party at the Petersen Automotive Museum in California and a black Chevy Impala rolled up beside his SUV, the LAPD's involvement is still in question.

In 2005, a civil suit was filed by Wallace's family against the city of L.A after it was discovered that there was evidence being hidden by the police force linking two undercover officers, David Mack and Rafael Perez to the crime and the label Death Row Records.

David Mack

Both Mack and Perez were later convicted of other crimes. Mack for bank robbery while Perez stole and resold cocaine from police evidence lockers.

Now according to KCAL 9, A cellmate of Perez recently provided new information supporting a cover up of the incidents that took place on March 9th, 1997 to news station.

“Perez was working security. Perez had a cell phone. Perez said he called over to Mack, David Mack on his cell phone. Perez told Mack that Biggie Smalls was in his truck. Perez never said that he set up Biggie Smalls but I have heard that he…had something to do with that murder,” according to the inmate.

Rafael Perez

He also tied the officers to Death Row Records, claiming they went to all of their parties.

Former lead investigator, Russell Poole says these statements are just a glimpse into hundreds of pages of documents that were hidden from Wallace family attorneys.

Poole, who resigned from the LAPD in 1999 says that the LAPD has a reason to hide the officers' involvement. The Rodney King beating, the riots that followed, and the verdict in the O.J. Simpson case were all blemishes on the track record of the department.

If two minority officers had something to do with the killing of a rap superstar, especially while one of them was on-duty, the city would face embarrassment, racial tension and be liable for hundreds of millions of dollars.

Is that enough reason to keep this case cold?
