Corey Miller, professionally known as C-Murder never wanted his rap moniker to be taken so serious that it would result in him spending life in prison.

But the No Limit soldier is serving time behind bars for the murder of Steven Thomas, a 16-year-old who had an alleged altercation with Miller at the nightclub Platinum in 2002.

After being convicted of the murder the first time, Miller was released in 2003 on $500,000 bail when it was revealed that some of the witnesses had their criminal records thrown out to increase their credibility.

In 2009, the prosecutors got their chance to appeal the case and the younger brother of Master P was convicted again although a juror said she was pressed by other jurors to vote for a conviction.

Unfortunately for the artist once known as C-Murder, he spent all his bread on legal fees, but his new attorneys are working for no money to get the case overturned again.

The team of Harvard and New Orleans attorneys stated that there is no physical evidence linking Miller to the crime and they are hoping for another appeal.

According to published reports, Master P. and his son Romeo are organizing a benefit concert via his Move With Music organization to support Michelle Obama's anti-obesity campaign.

"We are taking the initiative to help fight child obesity by educating the next generation on how to eat right and exercise through music, dance and entertainment," a rep for Master P. said in a statement.

"We are connecting musicians and entertainers through concert events to bring awareness to this epidemic of childhood obesity and health issues."

Master P's rep have confirmed that the event will take place on February 11th in Los Angeles and are rallying for celebrities to aid in the fight against poor health.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), over 67% adults are overweight or obese and over 33% of children/adolescents are also overweight or obese.

With C-Murder trying to work on an appeal for his murder charge, he is becoming strongly convinced that his brother, Master P, is doing nothing but further hurting his chances of being released from prison.

After stating that he alerted Murder of the consequences that could come about from his particular moves in life, Master P added that his inability to surround himself with positive people landed his brother in such a situation.

“When my value system changed, I have to go out and live for my family and say ‘Man, look, if you hanging out there with these thugs, I'm out here with my kids.'  This is what I love because my kids are gonna be there for me in the end.”

The saying goes to be mindful of the company that one keeps as friends aren't always out for everyone's best interests, which only hurts the team in the end.

As previously reported, Miller signed on to host a benefit concert to raise money for the embattled country of Haiti and helped to feed and clothe the homeless for Christmas.

Now P's at it again, this time judging a mixed martial arts fight with proceeds going to the country's recovery process.

P is set to judge the battle on April 9^th in Pasadena, Texas.

The fight features WGC Fighter Sam Hoger alongside other WGC allstars with celebrities LeToya Luckett, Chamillionaire and Vince Young scheduled to attend.

Speaking on his new role as judge, Master P released a statement on the upcoming event saying,

“Mixed martial arts is the fastest growing sports in the world. And to have the WGC bring awareness to education and helping the kids in Haiti get back into the school systems, I'm in. Together we can make a difference.”

Romeo is following in his father's footsteps and teaming up with  IHeartHaitiKids.org to throw a benefit concert.

He'll be joined by his Hip-Hop group, The College Boys, as well as his younger sister Cymphonique, JoJo and others for a concert at Six Flags Magic Mountain on February 27^th.

The concert is free and admission to the park is discounted that day.

Attendees are encouraged to bring books to the park to donate to Haiti.

As previously reported, Romeo left behind his basketball career to launch his Next Generation Records and focus on making music with The College Boys.

Their debut album Box Office Hits is set to hit stores in August.

The former No Limit soldier is assisting Haiti by hosting a benefit concert aimed mainly at the youth of the country whose schools have been destroyed in the devastation.

Taking place Superbowl Sunday, proceeds from the concert will benefit IHeartHaitiKids.org.

Speaking on the upcoming benefit in a statement, Miller says that he can directly relate to the children of Haiti after witnessing the affects of Katrina on children in his hometown.

“Seeing the process that the Hurricane Katrina victim kids have gone through, I understand the importance of the immediate need to help start the recovering and rebuilding process for education and getting kids back into the school system.”

He also adds that proceeds will directly go to the rebuilding process, helping to pay for books and school supplies.

“The earthquake has destroyed many schools. I'm teaming up with young entertainers, throwing a concert, and reaching out to young stars that want to make a difference…Your donation will also be used towards the rebuilding of their schools, school supplies and books; putting these devastated kids on track to receive a proper education in their recovery process.“

A lineup of performers for the concert is still forthcoming.

Romeo is announcing the launch of his new record label Next Generation Records after being removed from his position as a guard on the University of Southern California's basketball team due to a previous infraction.

Romeo is moving on from basketball and will focus on making new music for himself and his rap group, The College Boys.

The College Boys will release their new album Spring Break on March 9, 2010.

Along with his work with The College Boys, Romeo is also working on a solo project titled Box Office Hits scheduled to hit stores in August of 2010.

Although not happy about his departure from the team, Romeo released a statement saying that he'll also be diving further into acting and will be featured in an upcoming film.

“I'm sad that my basketball season at USC will end early due to a violation from an incident that happened two years ago, which is not fair, but I'm also happy about the new opportunity I recently received to play in this big block buster movie. I can't talk about it but I can tell you that I won't be a vampire.”

He also made sure to give props to his fans for sticking by him.

“I love all my fans for waiting patiently as I finish my education…I am in the best physical shape in my life and I am ready to lead Hip-Hop into the next millennium.”

Master P's daughter, 13-year-old Cymphonique Miller, is an actor/singer/dancer and has inked a substantial talent development deal with Nickelodeon to develop a  series for her.

In addition to her television series, the young mogul in the making has a record deal with Sony Music and recently came off tour with Raven Symone where she performed for audiences of over 60,000 people.

The executive Vice President of talent for Nickelodeon expressed the cable channel's excitement over adding another member of the Miller clan to the lineup saying,

"She is extraordinarily talented for somebody so young. She has great comedic timing, an amazing voice and is very self-assured. Additionally, "we have had long history with this family.”

Not only does Romeo's little sister, sing, act and dance but the pre-teen also is delving into writing. She recently created a book series titled “Fabulous Girls” in addition to her “Fabulous Girls Charity” which brings awareness to children with cancer. She will also be traveling to India, Asia, Canada and Europe for performances and begin her “I Heart You” Tour in the U.S February 2010.

As previously reported, C-Murder was convicted of second degree murder for the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy in 2002 and sentenced to life in prison. Now, as he continues to serve his time, C-Murder's trying anxiously to appeal his conviction so he can see the light of day again.

Unfortunately for him, however, the cost of an appeal is more than he can afford. According to court documents, he's seeking an appeal of his jail bid but can't pay the $20,000 in legal fees for that to happen. To file a suit in appellate court, he would have to pay for the case record, trial transcripts and fees for all pretrial and trial hearings.

Desperate for a way out, his attorneys are asking the court for to declare him ‘indigent.' Under an ‘indigent' court declaration he would not have to pay the asked amount and could file his appeal free of charge.

Attorneys for C-Murder filed papers in a New Orleans courtroom asking for the declaration because he is currently incarcerated, does not own a car, does not own real estate and does not have income or savings. In other words, the man's broke.

His two attorneys are not charging him for their representation.

A hearing is set for December 10.
