10 Cities Leading The Occupy Wall Street Movement

What began in New York City as a result of protesters taking inspiration from the Arab Spring movement and Cairo's Tahrir Square protests, Occupy Wall Street has spread from a protest started in NYC's Zuccotti Park on Wall Street on September 17th, 2011 to over 100 cities across the nation and global.

Protesters have been camping out and gathering for weeks and in some case months, in demonstrations against banks, financial institutions and corporate greed all across the world in demand of economic and social justice

All in all, Occupy Wall Street has grown into the largest protest in America since the 60's and 70's.

Just in case you haven't been paying attention, here are 10 of the larger cities in America that started and are leading the Occupy movement.

Trina To Perform Philly Stop The Violence Block Party

Trina is set to join Philly's Stop The Violence movement with a performance at the city's 4rd Annual Unity in the Community Block Party this Saturday.

The Baddest Chick will headline the show that also features special guests Power 99 FM's DJ Diamond Kuts, Uncle O, State Representative Kenyatta Johnson; Jordan Harris, Executive Director, Philadelphia Youth Commission and many more.

“This year our event will have a deeper meaning as we declare a critical call to action to the leaders of this city, local celebrities and prominent public figures, to help us mobilize a much needed stop-the-violence movement in our neighborhood,” Unity in the Community President, Anton Moore, says.

“What are we doing as citizens to collectively stop the crime in our city? It's a question I ask my friends and neighbors and I hope this event will raise awareness about this important issue.”

The Unity in the Community organization held various fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for the event.

Philly's Power 99FM is a media partner and other community members have provided their support.

Just as long as Trina doesn't perform "Let Dem H*es Fight" or "Killing You H*es."

It's a stop the violence show, so hopefully she gets the memo.

Rick Ross Signs Philly Rapper Meek Mill To Maybach Music Group

After welcoming Wale to Maybach Music Group, "The Bawse" Rick Ross has announced Philadelphia's own, Meek Mill as his latest signee.

Maybach films once again captures the initial moment, this time Mill is shown actually putting his name on the dotted line and expressing his feelings about the situation.

The young spitter states, "...coming from the bottom, 2 years ago I was in my [expletive] cell hoping I wouldn't get 20 years... now I get out and take it to the next level..."

Meek became one of Philadelphia's hottest underground rap artists on an independent label in 2007.

Repping North and South Philly, he released his Flamerz mixtape series and the single, "In My Bag" broke through to radio in his hometown.

In 2008, Mill caught the attention of TI and was signed to Grand Hustle.

TI was excited to add him to his roster explaining how he has the streets of Philly supporting him and he is versatile enough to battle in the streets and make radio records.

Now Meek is taking his hard lyrics and love from his city to Rozay's label.

Check out video of his signing below.

A former Philadelphia police officer was sentenced to 15 years in prison after prosecutors say he plotted to steal $1.5 million in cocaine from as an undercover agent police planted as a suspected drug dealer.

34-year-old Alhinde Weems was arrested after authorities say he tried to use his badge to enter the home of an undercover agent posing as a drug dealer to rob him of the illegal substance.

Prosecutors also say Weems had previously sold cocaine and had his service weapon ready to use against the undercover officer if necessary.

At his sentencing, Weems told a federal judge that his was depressed and acting irrationally after suffering a head injury in a bike accident while his friends said he felt pressure to support his wife and their five children.

Weems is one of several recent cases in Philadelphia of officers trying to rob drug dealers.
As previously reported Officers Mark Williams, James Venziale and Robert Snyder were convicted on a 14-count indictment for scheming to steal $15,000 worth of heroin from a supplier and sell it to citizens of Philadelphia.

With the revival of Beanie Sigel and Freeway, it feels as though there has been something else missing coming from Philadelphia. The punch line fanatic himself, Cassidy the Hustler.

Since 2007, Cassidy has linked up with the Denver Nugget's own Carmelo Anthony and joined his record label Krossover Entertainment. Looking to return to the rap game, there is an echo of 2005's I'm A Hustla with his upcoming project C.A.S.H., broken down as Cass Always Spit Hard or Cass A Straight Hustler.

Recently flooding the streets with freestyles in preparation for his upcoming mixtape Apply Pressure Pt. 2, expected to drop February 5, Cass is on his usual grind mode that he's had since 2003 when he first emerged in the mainstream.

“They say it's a recession. I call my album C.A.S.H. because everybody needs money,” said Cassidy, while speaking with MTV.

“I feel as though everybody that's a fan of hip-hop or a fan of music period, they need to come and support artists like me, because you gonna see hip-hop fall off the map, like other forms of music, if you don't. I don't feel it's going down a good path right now. I think they need to support artists like me that's really gonna put his all into it, go hard, be lyrical and be original, not a follower.”

He also provided an update with what's coming next once the focus is purely on the actual album.

“I got a street record to shake up the industry. I'm dropping that in two weeks. I'm gonna let that rock and come back with the real single."

Continuing the cycle of breaking down barriers, Seth Williams became the first Black district attorney of Philadelphia.

The 42-year-old litigator will become Philly's first new district attorney in nearly 20 years, taking over for his former boss Lynne Abraham, whom served as the top lawyer in Philadelphia since 1991.

Williams campaigned on the promise to make Philadelphia the safest big city in America, using a hypothetical system in which individual prosecutors would be assigned to serve different neighborhoods to note his commitment to the city and his job.

Police are looking for two men who robbed a man as he died after waiting over an hour to at a Philadelphia emergency room.
63-year-old Joaquin Rivera walked to Northeast Philadelphia hospital Saturday after experiencing shooting pain down his right side. Once there he waited for nearly 80 minutes before clutching his chest and going unconscious. He is believed to have died shortly thereafter.

Police have released a portion of the video footage to the public. The complete tape shows Rivera going to the window twice in the 11 minutes after he arrived complaining of chest pain, before he loses consciousness. Two men believed to be homeless are wanted in connection with robbing Rivera after he was dead. One of the men is shown on the video approaching the ailing men and slipping off his watch. A third man, 44-year-old Richard Alten, is already in police custody.

The video of Joaquin Rivera's robbery is below.

A.) How dumb do you have to be to rob someone in an emergency room? There are cameras EVERYWHERE.

B.) How'd they let this man die before being treated? 80 minutes in an emergency room? SMH...

Shortly after interviewing Beanie Sigel and getting clarity to the shots thrown on the track “Average Cat (What You Talking About)," Charlamagne Tha God was in store for yet another unexpected surprise.

A pink slip.

Monday, Tha God was fired from The Beat. Originally beside Wendy Williams as a co-host for her show, he made the move to the station in April 2008. His show ran from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.

On Friday, radio station 100.3 the Beat, let go personalities such as Kiki the First Lady, DJ AJ and Dwight Stone as the station was making the choice to change its format. Obviously, their history wasn't enough to allow them to ride out with the transition.

Confirming the news through Twitter, the radio personality seemed to not really have any qualms with the station and their decision to move in a different direction even if he wasn't included.

Cthagod #cthagodgotfired cause 100.3 The Beat said they want to move in a different direction. God bless them. Thanks for the past 6 months.

He also sent out a salute to listeners in the Philadelphia area. Charlamagne added that it's funny with the timing and how Wendy had to take the L when Diddy had her taken from Hot 97 after she exercised her right to dig into Combs.

With that said, rumors are swirling that Jay-Z may have had a hand in him being fired after allowing Sigel to air out his dirty laundry. If the rumors hold any validity, Jay is setting himself up for failure as it relates to the fans.
