Young Jeezy Signs Tone Trump to CTE

Sorry Freeway, Young Jeezy has "brotherly love" for somebody else in your city. Last August, while at Cosmic Kev's Power 99 radio station, Jeezy fielded questions about the possible signing of former Roc-A-Fella artist, Freeway to his CTE imprint. While noting was ever set in stone, almost a year later, the Philly spitter that Jeezy has chosen to roll with isn't Freeway, but West Philly rapper, Tone Trump.

Although Jeezy is currently in Miami for Memorial Day Weekend, he found time to make this business deal happen. Considering the plethora of talent that exists in Philadelphia, this might not be the right move, but let's assume there's something Jeezy knows about his new signee, that we don't.

Jay-Z spoke with Jeff Rosenthal of Rolling Stone after taking the stage in Philadelphia to announce the Made In America Festival. The initial question about why he chose Philadelphia, after being so quintessentially New York his entire career, was more about the festival being a celebration of Americana and less about him. "This was tailor-made for Philadelphia, home-made for Philadelphia. Philadelphia's one of the most iconic cities: Declaration and the whole bit," says Hov. I feel like I've done enough in New York where I feel I could branch out a bit, and she won't get mad at me so much. And it's a short trek from New York, so..."

Hov also all but confirmed that his wife Beyonce will be touching the stage on during Labor Day weekend as well as reaching out to President Barack Obama to make an appearance. "I'm gonna tell you guys right now: I'm gonna give him a call and I'm gonna try to get him to perform – do a little rendition of Al Green – but I doubt it," Jay-Z says of the Commander In Chief. "I think that opens up the political season. He'll be so far into helping the world that he probably won't have time, but I'm absolutely going to ask him."

Jay-Z Would Rather Spend Time With His Daughter Than Record New Music

If the announcement of the Watch the Throne Europe tour, and his appearance on other music stages this year, had fans hoping that a new Jay-Z project was in the works, it's not going to happen—anytime soon. Brooklyn's finest announced earlier today that he will headline Budweiser's Made In America festival, but as far as putting out a new album, Jay has a more important priority holding his attention: his daughter.

Having already admitted that the baby will be spoiled, Papa Hov has now put the breaks on creating records. "I thought I would be more inspired to have all these new feelings to talk about, but I really just want to hang out with my daughter," he told Billboard at the press conference held in Philadelphia early Monday (May 14). "I want to enjoy this time for what it is. I'm sure that bug to get back in the studio will come back at some point."

The concert, to be held over Labor Day weekend, will feature 28 other acts, the line-up of which will be announced May 21. One day after the announcement, pre-sale tickets will be available to users who become a fan of Budweiser's Facebook page, while regular tickets will be open for the general public May 22.

Aside from spending time with his infant daughter, Jay is also clocking multi-million business deals. Last week, the 42-year-old officially broke ground at the Barclay center driving a bulldozer at the location which will house his Brooklyn Nets.

Earlier this morning in a not so sunny day in Philadelphia, Jay-Z held a press conference announcing his two day musical festival on Labor Day Weekend entitled Made In America. It started out all good at first, and even the biggest rap snobs were ecstatic to see former Roc-A-Fella artist and Philly native, Freeway, on stage with Jigga.

Jay-Z To Headline Budweiser Made In America Festival, Says Event Will "Make History"

The secret behind Jay-Z's press conference in Philly this morning is finally out. Hov addressed the public Monday (May 14), in which he not only announced that he would headline the two-day event over Labor Day weekend, but proclaimed that the concert will be historic. "This Labor Day, we will not only make history but we're benefiting a great organization," Jay said. "Budweiser Made in America will encompass every genre of music, creating and showcasing the only genre that matters, 'great music.' Budweiser and Live Nation are going to produce an amazing two days of performances, and it's great to partner with United Way again to support all of the positive work they do in the community."

Tickets for the Live Nation event, to be held September 1st and 2nd at the Ben Franklin Parkway in Fairmount Park, go on sale Wednesday, May 23. Tickets retail for $99, but Budweiser fans will get first dibs at pre-sale tickets available May 22, by liking the company's Facebook page. While there are nearly 30 slots available, Jay failed to reveal which acts would be joining him. Given the location, many speculate that the performance may mark a reconciliation with Beanie Sigel, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Jay-Z is set to take the podium in Philadelphia to announce that his Labor Day Weekend festival titled Made In America, in partnership with Budweiser. The concert will be held on September 1st and 2nd at Ben Franklin Parkway in Fairmount Park. It is expected to be a three-stage event promoted by Live Nation that will bring a wide range of acts to Philly from the world of Rock, Hip-Hop, R&B, Latin and Dance, hit the jump to watch live.

Jay-Z Hosting Two-Day Music Festival In Philadelphia Labor Day Weekend

Jay-Z is hosting a two-day music festival in Philadelphia. The New York Times reports that the press conference Hova has scheduled for Monday a.m. (May 14th) in Philly along with Mayor Michael A. Nutter is to announce the Budweiser Made In America music festival (so that explains this "Made In America" teaser).

The two-day festival goes down on September 1 and 2 and will include up to 28 acts. The "99 Problems" rapper will be hand picking the participants, so expect a gang of A-list talent—from "rock, hip-hop, R&B, Latin and dance," per a press release—to make their way to Fairmount Park on Labor Day Weekend. One safe bet to show up is probably Meek Mill since he is now managed by Roc Nation.

Tickets for the festival, which is being organized by Live Nation, go on sale May 23 via ticketmaster.com and livenation.com and part of the proceeds will go to the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey.

It's been a busy past month for Jigga considering he's revealed the new Brooklyn Nets logo, endorsed a new cognac called D'ussé and held a surprise performance in NYC. Think Beanie Sigel will get an invite?

Meek Mill Signs To Roc Nation Management

I guess we know who is having the best week ever. Meek Mill has joined his MMG partner, Wale, by signing to Roc Nation's Management team. He hinted to his affiliation with Jay-Z on his new mixtape, Dreamchasers 2, but he confirmed this in an interview with Hov's site,Life + Times.

"Yeah, that's the new deal I put together. Me coming up in this rap game, I was always an underground artist coming up by myself and making all of the moves by myself," he told the site. "And my manager – he's just like me, we've been coming up in the streets by ourselves. So we just decided to partner up with Roc Nation and take things to another level."

Meek joins frequent collaborator, Jahlil Beats and his alleged new flame Rihanna on Roc Nation's management team. Meek also celebrated his 25th birthday this week.
