The parents of Trayvon Martin, will make the two month anniversary of their son's death with a massive rally to be held in Los Angeles Thursday (April 26). Coordinated by the NAACP, the National Action Network, Empowerment Movement, and the Rainbow Push Coalition, the Justice for Trayvon Martin Foundation Los Angeles Rally will be held at the West Angeles Church North Campus, Thursday (April 26).

A mixture civil rights figures, celebrities, and citizens will all come together to show their support for the Martin family. Special guests include NAACP president Benjamin Jealous, Rev. Al Sharpton, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Ervin "Magic" Johnson, Chaka Khan, David Banner, Mary Mary, and Big Boy. The purpose of the event is to advocate for victims of senseless crimes and their families, as well as educating young people on conflict resolution techniques, and increase public awareness of racial profiling.

The Florida teen was killed by George Zimmerman on Feb. 26, while on his way back from a corner store. Zimmerman has claimed self-defense under the rules of Florida's controversial "stand your ground" law, which has since been brought up for review, in wake of Martin's death.

Bill O'Reilly is no stranger to controversy, and his latest target appears to be the Trayvon Martin case. O'Reilly interviewed Martin's mother, Sybrina Fulton on his show Thursday (April 12), and after offering his condolences, the political pundit launched into an attack on Rev. Al Sharpton.

According to O'Reilly, Sharpton should apologize for injecting emotion into the case, and encouraging to any potential violent backlash from the public.

As he sees it, Sharpton has contributed to the staunch public opinion which pegs Martin's accused killer as a racist. Of course race has been at the forefront of the 17-year-old's death from the start, and a 911 call made by Zimmerman, suggests that he unlawfully profiled the high school student. "From the beginning, we've just called for calm. Let the system work. Let's not convict Zimmerman on television. Let's not make these wild charges," he said before calling out Sharpton as one of the people who "didn't follow his advice" regarding the controversial shooting. "I said last night that some of them should apologize, like Rev. Sharpton, was I wrong to say that?" Fulton retorted by explaining that both she and the longtime Civil Rights activist do not promote violence. "We've never asked anybody to do anything out of the ordinary," she explained. "We wanted to have peaceful rallies and peaceful protests. We're not supporting any violence or anything like that."

Sharpton has been a very vocal supporter of the Martin family, often standing by their side during media interviews, and coordinated rallies calling for Zimmeman's arrest. Fulton's attorney, Benjamin Crump, also weighed in, stating that the protests and demonstrations were necessary in helping to bring the teen's killer to justice.

After nearly two months of freedom, the 28-year-old surrendered to Florida officials last week, after it was announced that he would be charged for the killing. One day later, the former neighborhood watch volunteer made his first court appearance, and was officially informed that he will face second degree murder charges.

Zimmerman is expected to plead not guilty to the charges, and is due to be arraigned in court May 29.

The furor surrounding the slaying of 17-year old Trayvon Martin in a gated Florida suburb shows no signs of calming down any time soon. Many high profile media personalities have voiced outrage over the case and have called for the arrest of Neighborhood Watch volunteer George Zimmerman. The latest voice to join the cry is Rev. Al Sharpton, who announced that he will travel to the town of Sanford this week to stage a rally for the Martin family.

Sharpton announced his intentions to head south via his Facebook and Twitter accounts, stating he will arrive in Sanford this Thursday (March 22nd) and hold a rally at the First Shiloh Baptist Church in Sanford at 7:00p.m. The founder of the National Action Network is the latest to throw support behind the Martin family after the tragic loss of the teenager at the hands of 28-year-old Zimmerman.

Last month during NBA All-Star weekend in Orlando, Trayvon was visiting his family in Sanford, just 20 miles north from where the star-studded event was taking place. Trayvon and his 13-year old brother Chad were watching the All-Star game when during a break, Trayvon decided to head to a nearby store to grab snacks. Returning home, Trayvon was confronted by Zimmerman, captain of the Retreat at Twin Lakes community Neighborhood Watch program. After a 911 call made to Sanford police reporting a suspicious male walking around, Trayvon was found shot dead near his father's home by authorities.

After some pushback from the Sanford police chief to release audio of the 911 call, tapes were released last Friday and revealed that Zimmerman was tailing Trayvon in the neighborhood before making the call. After being warned off by dispatchers to discontinue following the youth, the audio revealed a screaming woman asking for help later followed by two loud bangs. In another call, Zimmerman can be heard saying “looks like he's up to no good, or he's on drugs or something.”

Zimmerman then follows up by saying "These a**holes, they always get away."

Attorneys for the Martin family maintain that the bangs were the gunshots that led to the death of Trayvon. Attorney Ben Crump has characterized Zimmerman as a “loose cannon” and says the Martin family is grieving after the release of the 911 audio. “They are overwhelmed by grief at what they heard this evening," Crump said to the press. "The last seconds of his life were in absolute fear."

Crump has been vocal in expressing the Martin family's desire to see George Zimmerman charged with a crime. Thus far, authorities have not levied any charges against Zimmerman and Sanford's police chief seemingly wants the issue to just go away, hoping that the release of the tapes would “slow down” all of the media attention. "The hysteria, the media circus, it's just crazy," Chief said. "It's the craziest damn thing I've ever seen, and it's sad.”

NAACP Plans Nationwide Protest Over Voter ID Laws

The NAACP is teaming up with labor groups to make a change when it comes to laws passed for voters.

The protests are set to begin on December 10th, announced NAACP leader Benjamin Todd Jealous who is hooking up with Reverend Al Sharpton and U.S. Rep. Charles Rangel to attack what's being referred to as "voter suppression laws."

In case you want the specifics, News One reports, "the laws target low-income and minority voters by requiring specific types of photo ID to cast ballots, by reducing the number of early voting days and by instituting tougher laws on collecting registrations."

So the protests are meant to alert the public of the tactics being used to get the minorities to vote less since the laws seem to target Hispanics, Blacks and the disabled.

It's a brilliant plan to keep another Black guy out of office but it's been going on for years so we'll see how this turns out.

Black America is in a state of emergency and it has come to a point where violence has escalated to an alarming rate and the youth seem to have lost a sense of direction which has only resulted in casualties.

A stand is being made by Rev. Al Sharpton as he will be pairing up with Hip Hop activist Erica Ford to lead a day of protest going against the outburst of violence.

It is being dubbed the “National Day Of Outrage."

Initiated by the National Action Network, this day will echo forever in time as the moment where the final strand of rope broke, in regards to patience, and Black America found a way to put their differences aside for just a day in order to work for a greater cause.

Taking place on November 23, the rally will feature Sharpton in Atlanta, Georgia and other rallies will take place across the country in major areas such as Los Angeles, Chicago, North Carolina, Boston, Cleveland and Philadelphia.

Speaking with AllHipHop, Sharpton opened up on how essential it is to finally be on one chord and rise together to put an end to the senseless violence.

"We must be just as vigilant against the shootings that are random, gang related or intentional because we are in a crisis state and too many lives are being forsaken. We've got to come together across all lines to fight this battle.”

While the Reverend mans the troops down in Atlanta, Ford will organize groups in New York.

Ford has continued to be a factor in restoring the order in the African-American community. Her past work involved a program titled “Bury Da Beef” working with rap artists such as KRS-One, Tupac and many others.

“It takes a village to save a child,” Ford said. “The strength that breathes inside of us beats the madness of society. We achieve great success when we don't accept all the habits as normal behavior. Love your life.”

Along with Sharpton and Ford, the rally will also include those that were victims of gun violence as well as other activists, elected officials and citizens from the communities.

The movement will begin everywhere at 2 p.m. Eastern Standard Time and more information can be found at www.nationalactionnetwork.net.

The time has come to make a change. It's time to rise and stand united as one.

The men of Phi Beta Sigma are hosting their National Conclave this week in New Orleans, Louisiana and according to sources within the fraternity, a vote by several members of the brotherhood will see some very influential men voted into their ranks very soon. Former President and notorious philanderer William Jefferson Clinton was the first voted on; he won by a nearly unanimous vote. The other was the man with the prodigious perm, infamous rabble-rouser, Reverend Al Sharpton.

Leadership of Phi Beta Sigma have not officially confirmed this information as of yet, but the rumors hearken to familiar tones that were uttered nearly a year ago, when rumors surfaced that the distinguished ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha were preparing to induct First Lady Michelle Obama into their sisterhood. The rumors became truth when she was later given an honorary membership into the sorority, joining the ranks of a myriad of distinguished women and just one former First Lady, Eleanor Roosevelt.

If former President Clinton becomes a member of Phi Beta Sigma he will become the first President of the United States to become a member of a historically Black Greek lettered organization.
