Busta Rhymes Signs With Cash Money, Drops New Single With Chris Brown

Whether you view Cash Money as army, navy or career-saving label on a mission to revive careers and help those in need, Birdman and Slim are extending their pockets like all poppin' execs should.

Miss Info reports that Busta Rhymes and Mystikal are the newest additions to the CMB fam.

We've seen Roc-A-Fella snatch up folks like ODB and M.O.P when that label was on fire. We witnessed G-Unit sign up Mobb Deep and the Mash Out Posse once again, but somehow it doesn't always work out.

Bussa Buss himself has been around the record deal block quite a bit, but maybe this one will pan out for him.

"Why Stop Now," His new single with Chris Brown sounds like a "Look At Me Now" remix but if you missed the details about his contest look below.

Damon Dash Bootlegging Charges Dismissed

Dame Dash can breathe a little easier as his "bootlegging" charges have been put to rest.

A Manhattan judge agreed to settle the restraining order that was placed on 172 Duane Street, the building that housed his DD172 studio/building, after claims that the property's owners and Damon Dash were selling and distributing alcohol without a license.

According to The Village Voice, Judge Cynthia S. Kern signed a stipulation settling the matter as long as 172 Duane Street Realty abides by the liquor laws in the future and agrees to provide security guards when holding events, agrees to warrantless inspections by police, and abide by their certificate of occupancy.

As previously reported, the Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder and his associates are catching heat for running an unlicensed club called DD172in New York City, and have been served with of six counts of storing and selling alcohol without a license.

Dash reportedly moved out of the space in New York's Tribeca neighborhood in June, but were first hit for violating the liquor code this past May and in November 2010.

Dash's lawyer Joshua Seidman told The Village Voice that the city had never served his client any papers and that “selling liquor was never a part of the business model of that location.” (Two police documents from April and May obtained by the Voice list Dash by name on reports of an illegal bottle club/alcohol warehousing.) Seidman added that “the company hasn't operated out of that premises since the beginning of summer.”

A source close to the proceedings told the Voice that if Dash had still been the tenant at the time the city served the papers, there would have been more of a chance of his having to pay fines. As it stands now, no one has to pay anyone anything.

Dame Dash Admits To Tax Woes

Reports recently came to light that Dame Dash owes $3 Million to the IRS and Dame admitted to the faux pas (to put it in light terms) in a recent interview on Sway Calloway's radio show on Shade 45.

"I owe way more than $2 million in taxes," said Dame. "That must've just been the IRS," said Dash, laughing. "Nah, nah, I'm f*cked up."

Dame continued, "They're auditing me. When you're a business man, you have a lot of businesses, a lot of times they think you're laundering money or you're pretending you're writing things off that you don't. I'm a true businessman. As you know, I believe in my independence, I have no partners, so every dollar I make goes right back into every business I have."

Dash also goes on to explain that an accountant holds a heavy responsibility within the business to properly report where expenses are going.

"If I have an accountant that just reports I just invested $10 million in my business and he doesn't exactly itemize where every cost goes, it gives a flag to the government. They want to make sure that the reason I'm not paying taxes is because I'm reinvesting in these businesses and not trying to hide stuff."

Dame Dash Talks Jay-Z

It's hard to believe it's been 15 years since Jay-Z's classic 1996 album, Reasonable Doubt, was released.

To celebrate classic albums on their anniversaries, VH1 started a new new monthly series, Album-Versaries.

For their first installment, VH1 spoke with Roc-A-Fella co-founder Dame Dash, who reminisced about the Roc album that was a beginning of a dynasty:

Because we believed in [Reasonable Doubt] so much, you couldn't even tell me that it wasn't going to be the best album that was ever made.

It's funny because it became that.

Years later when you reflect, you're like, you were so arrogant and everyone said you were a f*cking asshole because you were so arrogant but I was right.

I said ‘he will be the greatest rapper of all time'.

I said that 15 years ago not to put it all on me. It was a lot of fighting.

It was at a time when people told me he was the worst rapper.

I had been shopping him and everyone told me he raps too fast so I said I'll just do it myself.

I always go back to that now. Once we got into business, other people made money off of what we did and we had partners.

All we did was become a slave to their agendas and we didn't even realize it.

I just remembered being manipulated just because we were young.

I remember certain little things that were done to manipulate…some worked and some didn't.

I've seen a lot of people that I care about get twisted. Those days were fun because I respected everybody 100% so it was unconditional love, no jade. I miss those days.

After a highly -publized split in 2004, Dame Dash and Jay-Z ended their business relationship, but the Roc-A-Fella dynasty will always be remembered as one of the greatest label runs in Hip-Hop history.

More on VH1's Album-Versary with Dame Dash is here.

Beanie Sigel Says Jay-Z Prevented Him From Signing With G-Unit

Beanie Sigel sat with MTV and gave some insight on his past with Jay-Z and how he was blocked from joining 50 Cent's G-Unit roster.

When Beans got out of prison in 2005, he was still on Roc-a-fella and an artist on Def Jam. He spoke with 50 Cent, who then had his label on Interscope and was willing to do a joint venture with Sigel.

"[50] wanted to give me a label, a whole label deal ... and a whole lot of money too."

The Broad Street Bully didn't just jump ship, he went to Hov to ask for separation from the parent label.

"I told him I had to roll. 'If you can't make that situation happen for me, I gotta leave. I gotta go,' " he explained.

"I asked him to just let me go — from Def Jam, not from Roc-A-Fella — because he was the president of Def Jam. 'I want to leave Def Jam, I'm out. You're the president, you can push that button. Let me get my release papers.' "

But the president of the historic label didn't really give his protege a negative response, he simply stalled. "He was like, 'Nah, let me see what I could do.' That 'see what I could do' turned into another two years."

State Property cohort, Freeway did however pull off a joint deal with G-Unit and Def Jam that was short-lived and was rumored to have gone down without the official approval of Jay.

Does Beans have a right to be a little salty?

Dame Dash Talks Curren$y, Creative Control and building new brands...

Greedmont TV presents a one-part video interview with Dame Dash.

Peep as he discusses his long and fruitful career as well as some of the upcoming projects he is working on like the movie, Muscle Car Chronicles starring Curren$y and McKenzie Eddy.

He also discusses his Creative Control group giving underground artists and companies exposure and states one of the reasons for its conception was,

"I like to be with most creative and relevant currently. I pride myself in being am opinion leader and trying to just know tasteful things first. And I know the constraints you have when you're good and you just don't have the platform to showcase it.

Some people only listen to Hot 97... and don't know anything about some of these good artists that are doing shows on a daily basis in front of the masses."

I'm seeing people that aren't in popular music living a rock [star] life. I think it is popular right now to be independent or a boutique and to have good music with instrumentation because I see it at the festivals.

So to me what people think is popular ain't as popular as what they think. I think sometimes Pop music pretends to be winning when its not."
