Legendary Hip-Hop duo Eric B. & Rakim are among 15 acts who have been nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame class of 2012.

Among nominations announced by the Hall on Tuesday include Gun N' Roses, Joan Jett, and The Cure, along with previous nominees the Beastie Boys, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and War.

Rakim is considered by many as one of the top MCs ever to touch a microphone, while as a duo, Eric B. & Rakim are best known for their '80's hits "Eric B Is President," "I Aint No Joke," "Juice (Know the Ledge)" and "Microphone Fiend."

The nominees were chosen by the 40 members of the hall's nominating committee, consisting of critics and musicologists.

Induction ballots will be sent to and voted on by 500 critics, industry professionals and musicians, in which five acts will be inducted and announced in November.

Artists are not eligible for the Rock and Roll hall of fame until 25 years after their debut single or album.

Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, and Run-DMC are the only Hip-Hop acts that have been inducted into the hall of fame.

LL Cool J Snubbed By The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced their new inductees for this year.

Among the honored musicians to be granted entry are Neil Diamond, Darlene Love, and Alice Cooper.

Not making quite making the cut are nominees Bon Jovi and LL Cool J who's been snubbed for a second time in a row.

LL's second snub is leaving some to question to the integrity of the Rock Hall of Fame.

The Hip-Hop pioneer  has 8 platinum selling albums and 10 No. 1's under his belt since 1985.

While his recent invovlement has been more-so in the film industry, that is not to undermine his deserving legacy.

Perhaps Todd Smith will have better luck next year.

The honors are set to take place at the Waldorf-Astoria hotel in New York City on March 14th.

LL Cool J, who has been nominated for the second year in a row previously lost last year as an official inductee.

The inductees will be announced in December, and the 26th annual induction ceremony will be held on March 14 at the Waldorf-Astoria in Manhattan.

Artists become eligible for nomination 25 years after the release of their first single or album, and the awards are voted on by more than 500 music professionals.

Other honorees who are nominated as inductees in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame include the  Beastie Boys, Kiss, Donna Summer and Neil Diamond.

At least not yet.

As Hip-Hop Wired previously reported, LL Cool J was up for contention during his first year of eligibility but it was announced that he didn't make the final cut.

Other artists that were up for contention as well, but didn't make the finals, included Disco Queen Donna Summer, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Kiss. This year's inductees will be Reggae legend Jimmy Cliff, ABBA, The Hollies, Genesis and The Stooges and they will be bestowed their honor on March 15, 2010 at the ceremony at the Waldorf Astoria in New York.

So far, only two Hip-Hop acts have been inducted into the prestigious Hall. Grandmaster Flash and The Furious 5 were inducted in 2007 and The Kings of Rock… Run-DMC were bestowed the honor last year.

In related Ladies Love Cool James news, Uncle L's latest television venture “NCIS:  Los Angeles” premiered on the small screen this week.  Airing weekly on Tuesday nights on CBS at 9 p.m., LL plays "Special Agent Sam Hanna," a former U.S. Navy Seal.  The crime drama also stars Chris O'Donnell, Rocky Carroll, Linda Hunt, Peter Cambor, Daniela Ruah and Adam Jamal Craig.
